Lost my V card

After a turn of unexpected events this weekend, it started with me taking down the top and driving back from Deland to Orlando on Sunday. It was a nice sunny morning, after having some relationship issues past couple of weeks, I've managed to reconcile with my GF. Having the top down and just driving is something we've always talked about even way before I owned a Jeep.
Anyhoo, clouds started to appear later in the day around 2. She was to perform at a recital at a church and I was planning to go. My dilemma was that the top was still down and I figured that it would end up raining around that time. With no time to put up the top completely and do everything else to get there, I decided to just go with it and keep it down.
Came outside after the recital to see it pouring rain, and I couldnt help but laugh. Carpets were soaked, I had ponds big enough to have fish in, it was just full on rain. Once at home, I tried draining it as much as possible, and soaking up as much as I could with only towels. I plan on having it cleaned out the right way, but please feel free to throw any tips or tricks out there. Its a 2007 JKU, all carpet. I just wanted to share the story of my first time here.

Felt great to drive like that though.

I always have a pair of huge trash bags for the seats. Besides that not much you can do. I've been meaning to put grommets in the carpet above the drain plugs for the few times in the summer I did have the carpet it, slipped between the cracks though.

Here I was thinking this was going to be a story about how you got laid IN the Jeep!

Every time I've been caught in the rain, it's been since I pulled my carpet. Unfortunately, short of telling you to pull the drain plugs and direct fans at the carpet, I'm not much help.

Nature of the beast and it ain't gonna hurt nothing! Dash might act up a bit for a few days but...no big deal. Although you will wanna dry out the carpet or it will start to get stanky...this is why the bedliner threads are so common....basically turns the Jeep into a giant bath tub!

Well, update for now:
Its still has signs of moist, but its overall dry. Gonna have to fire off some febreeze or something to get rid of the smell.
If I had the time and resources I would definitely want to bedline it, make things easier on me in the future. Now I've seen in other threads that people just leave it outside in the sun to dry better, but I just have that feeling of it being like playing Russian Roulette with bird droppings. Or maybe that's just me.

and HOOCBB, I honestly didn't catch how my original post sounded until I read it again. I just heard several people on here call getting rained on the first time "losing their V-card".

Best fix for me was baking soda under the carpet after I had it all wet when my friend spilled chocolate milk...yea... But that'll kill the musty odor and you can vacuum it up after it's done it's job. Hell put it on top too if ya don't mind the chunks that'll form.

Warm up the car and turn on the heater. Put it in the garage, and let it run. You might need some ventilation though. I had a work colleague who had her carpets cleaned, and she let it run, with the heater on, for a couple hours in the Company secured parking lot.
