Lowering Side Step Bars

Howdy all, new members here.

My wife and I have been searching for a replacement for our 1998 ford F-150 for some time and last night we purchased a Wrangler Sahara Unlimited with the Altitude Package.

I must admit, at this point we are not off roaders, but we were very impressed with the Jeep's interior and new engine and bought it as a daily driver for my wife. The only issue she has is that she badly broke her leg last year ( 85 staples to close the wound) and is still healing. She finds it pretty tough to get her foot on the step bar and get into the seat. Not much strength in that leg yet and maybe will never have it all back according to the doctor.

I know these vehicles are supposed to have ground clearance but she bought it more as a SUV.

Is there any kits or ways of lowering the step bars that anyone knows of?

There's not much you can do with the stock side steps (which are pretty feeble to begin with, as you'll find out if you should brush against a sturdy clump of grass).

Tons of aftermarket stuff, though. Maybe something like the MORE Hide A Step, made by Mountain Offroad Enterprises? Just a thought...

Welcome to WF!

Here's a thread I just tripped over in the JK section...sounds like it might be right up your alley.

Amp Research Power Steps - Very Nice!
