Lug Nut Question

Are these: Gorilla Automotive 41188 - Gorilla Automotive Products 1/2"x20 Thread Bulge Acorn Lug Nut - Quadratec

solid steel, or are they like the crappy Chrysler OEM lug nuts, with a thin shell (that generally rips off) ??

Thanks...

Hey Peteh, at the botom of the link you sent is a section called " you might be interested in" Check out the Gorilla spline drive lug nut kit. I have these on my YJ and they are great. They are soild steel, slim profile and every lug nut is like a security nut due to being splined and you need the adapter to remove them. I have black lugs and they look great on my soft 8's.

McGard makes excellent nuts in chrome or chrome/black and either acorn or spline, 1/2"-20. I've never had a problem with them rusting in Michigan winters.

Well, forget this option. I just got off the phone with a tech guy from McGard, and our Wrangler is one of only three or so vehicles that have odd wheel stud lengths. Seems they are ever so slightly longer than normal studs. Unless you can fit an acorn style nut, in which case they do have longer ones in that style. My rims only take the spline style nuts. Bummer. The stud length needs to be .920" or less with wheel mounted.

I also use the "SPLINE" lugnuts and they are ideal for the jeeps-

If you have deep alloy wheels-can'tbeatem-

I also run the spline drive lugs from Quadratec. They come in a set of 23 to do the spare as well. I've had them on 3 jeeps now and like them.
