M38A1 Dream Ride

I need a little help here. I am wanting to purchase a 52-54 M38A1 sometime in the near future. I deffinantly don't want to restore one but I don't want a completely restored one either ( if that makes any scents). On one of my favorite TV shows, Roswell, the main character Max Evans drives a 54 that's super cool. I really like old school jeeps but I'm not entirely sure what I'm getting into. Is there any decent engine upgrades out there to make it a bit more reliable? And could I tow it with my '07 Wrangler Unlimited? Any help, tips, or advise about getting a M38A1 would be very appreciated. Thanks!

If I were you I look around online to try and find a surplus that sells any that are left in decent condition. I know there's a place in Atlanta that sells authentic Military humvees, maybe there's a place somewhere hat does the same for jeeps
