mah linkage is busted...

Who's changed the linkage to their t-case and what did you use?

I'm getting a hammer out today to try and fix it but I'm not sure if just hooking it back up will fix the problem.

It's busted, didn't you read the title?

It doesn't work... well right now it's disconnected so you have to shift from underneath the jeep. I'm getting my hammer out right now.

Well, being that I'm an idiot, I can't seem to fix it....

I need to get it into neutral so that there's room to get the pin thing back into the lever on the t-case but I have no idea which way it's supposed to go. Up or down. I looked at the way the lever (inside the cab) moves the linkage but I keep second guessing myself on which way the lever on the t-case moves...... well it doesn't seem to want to move at all actually.

The jeep's in neutral (engine), what am I doing wrong??

putting the jeep in neutral? try putting it in gear and rocking it a bit as you try to shift it.
It's been a long long time since I had to shift a transfer case from underneath, oddly enough, it was on a Jeep.

The lever on the T-case moves front to back. The handle in the cab just moves funny so that you don't accidentally switch gears while moving. I'll crawl under mine in a sec and try to take a pic of the linkage for ya.

Thanks guys. I finally fixed it. I used a length of rope and some pliers to shift it and then ended up installing the drop bracket that the JKS BL instructions said I didn't need. It shifts like a dream now. Oh, vice grips to get the little bastardy connector back into the lever.

There is now a cloud of curse words hanging over the valley below my house.

Don't spread rumors. Read it again. I made it a little larger so you catch on this time.

doesn't it say something like skip steps blah blah blah if you are installing the MML as well??

I've found that to not always be the case. I didn't have to install it on my wifes jeep but I did on mine. Go figure.

Here's the first page if you're still unclear....

What you posted, MRC, is step number seven. I'm pretty sure I know what unnecessary means. Do you?

unnecessary would mean you don't have to install it. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you just install it?

I always prefer to go straight to the source.

You know Cliff, you're being a dick. I followed the instructions to the t when I installed the BL leaving out the parts they said to leave out with the MML. What I was pointing out was that the intructions said I didn't need it and I did in the end. But you had to jump in with your bullshit to try and make me look like an ass. Thanks.

Oh and I got the instructions from there. They're the exact ones that came with the parts.

I'm not trying to be a dick. I think you are just interpreting it that way. In the end it all boils down to every jeep is different. It isn't exactly ferrari or Mercedes that builds these things. To give you an example, I've worked on jeeps that had both axles out 1/2" from the factory.

Didn't mean to get under your skin. Not trying to belittle you either.

It would take a lot more for you to get under my skin.

Blowing up the instructions so I could "catch it" was meant exactly as I took it and the little green flip off guy is just a way people cover their ass when they're being snide.

cool that you got it working again. My shifter gets jammed sometimes too... it is very frustrating.

I bought a thing called the Novak Shifter for my Rubicon. But I havn't installed it yet

http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/kit_sk2x.htm

I think it requires some modifactions to get it to work mith the 241 tcase in my rubicon. I might try installing it this weekend since theres supposed to be thunderstorms and I won't wheel in thunderstorms

I was more trying to pry. To see how well you actually read the instructions. Honestly, I don't think I ever sat and read the instructions as I had someone walk me through it the first time. Then I came up with my own better way. LOL!

I was just trying to play games. Although, I haven't had a good week so it probably came out wrong. I'm just glad you've reached the point where you make it happen. There is something to be said for that.

Yeah, Tiny it's hit or miss. I didn't have to install the same supplied item from Daystar when I did my BL and MML, but I probably could and have it be "better" than it is now. But hell that was 4 years ago so I'm not touchin it if it ain't broke.
