manual or auto

Hi my name is Tommy. I am 23 years old going onto 24 soon. well iv been driving a VW GTI for a while now, and was always in the Street Tuning Environment. Well I sold my GTI yesturday (cuz im gettin too old for thoes kiddy stuff) , and trying to look for a car. I came across a Jeep Wrangler owner at the mall today and surely the car looked amazing, and practicle too. I REALLY WANT ONE!!!!!. anyways, i am debating on whether to get a manuel tranny or a atuo.... im use to manual so thats not a problem, but what my question is, if i want to be able to do the JEEP stuff (rock rlimbing, mudding, camping, running over my friends, running over thier cars), what would i have to get. Yes im planning on modifying the car also, maybe make the engin alittle more powerful (modding / swapping). would i have to get a manual tranny? or is an auto just fine.... i dont know, any respond would be great, because im going to the JEEP dealership on Friday, and will ask them a whole lot of questions too anyways, but I trust the Enthusiest alot more than a Commission working, money hungry Blood suckers. Thank you and hope to be a part of this MANLY community.

I think you will find mostly idiots to answer your questions there.

I prefer a standard transmission in my jeeps, but to each there own...

You will find it a matter of personal taste on the manual vs auto question. If you are caught in a tight spot on an incline an auto has a major advantage UNLESS you get a hand throttle. Neither tranny likes deep water but, I have witnessed auto's get toasted quicker. BTW buy new and you have less money available to make it your own. Buy used and take the money you save to build your beast

lots of debate here, and personal preference really. even in off road, rock crawling there's debate. i prefer manual, i wanna be in control. if you're good i think you will do better w/ manual. lots of options to, strong manuals and granny geas, whatever you want.

plus they're strong, and easier to repair and maintain.
