maybe you guys have seen this V8 engine already

it's been around a while and a motorcycle blog i read talked about it. but i figured due to it's smaller size it might work well in a jeep. they took a Hayabusa engine and turned it into a V8. quick stats are 327hp @ 10,000rmps and it weighs 209lbs.

here's a link to the article about it. the article has a link to the company that makes them.

That would certainly be unique.

I'd like to put one in a small plane. Talk about a STOL package!!!

yet no mention of torque, which i'd bet is pretty low. high rpm horsepower is great in light vehicles, which the jeep is not. it's also not going to build the revs quickly enough hooked to a jeep's transmission and rear end to make that horsepower very usable.
jgorm has the idea!!

It probably makes less than 100ftlbs, and probably at 6000+ rpms. Bike engines don't have ANY TQ. Thats why you need to launch at 7000+ rpms! Not good for any type of low speed operation!!

I'm not sure what a 55 is, but i believe it. I had a 04 R1 for a while. Its scary as hell to "launch" at 7000+ rpms while slipping the clutch up to 40+ mph but not letting it out too fast and sending the back tire in front of the front tire!

I've owned and raced (track, not strip) my R1 since 2002 and it STILL scares me on a regular basis!!
