Mice in Jeep

How do you get rid of field mice if they get in your Jeep? I live in the country and don't have a garage....noticed some droppings on the center console. OMG! Don't want those little things crawling over my shoulder as I am driving!!!! I heard they can do major damage chewing wires, insulation, seat stuffing. Help....!

first check your wiring they will chew into it, if you have a warrenty that will void it..

go to your local tack and feed store and see if they have a poison block called (bait block)that is what i use around my feed for my livestock..if they have the peanut flavor get that they love nut flavors the most..
do not let your pets around it or kids.
goodluck...bap

X2 leave some Rat/mouse poison near where you park your Jeep.

and make sure you put some under your seats..

check your engine ,for sure...see if you find any dog or cat food(if you have dogs or cats) even if you dont they will stash acorns or other wild food sources there if so put some there aswell at night but take it out before you drive it..
that is usually where they enter your jeep make sure you check your other vehicals too.

i see it all the time working at our dealership where i worked.

Fourth generation Shenandoah Valley farmer taught me this one. Get a couple of ounce vial of peppermint oil from the local candy making supply store. Using a cotton swab as an applicator, dab about half the vial on various parts of the interior and the other half in the engine compartment.

The peppermint oil overwhelms the mice's extremely sensitive sense of smell and they will stay away. I found that a good application keeps mice away for about six months. I normally stop smelling it after two or three days, but the mice can smell it far longer than us humans.

I have heard that fabric softener sheets like "Bounce" dryer sheets work well as a rodent repelant.

trap

they make a live trap that works very well. It is a smokey plastic square tube about 2"x2"x5" with a flapper door on the front. Throw a piece of cracker with peanut butter on it and put it under the seat. Check it often and toss out the mouse where ever and however.

I'm not particular to saving the mouse but it is a good trap for that kind of application.

Get a CAT.

I like the peppermint idea. Never heard that one.

The dryer sheet one I heard helps.

I got one in my old Wrangler about 10 years ago. Scared the crap out of me, driving and seeing this little grey mouse appear out of nowhere between my feet.

you and me both brother!...I suspect to people outside the vehicle thought I looked like a schoolgirl at a Justin Bieber concert... squealing, crying, stomping my feet. That lil booger ran past my feet on the pedals while I was driving and then peaked out from around the console at me.

I tried the cat thing (defective cat), peppermint Altoids soaking in wintergreen rubbing alcohol in cups on every floor board (the mouse just had fresh breath) cheese traps (licked em clean) and finally did a glue trap with cheese in the middle. that lil guy stayed alive, face glued to the trap, just so he could look at me with his beady eyes the next morning. I do believe his last thoughts were, "whatcha gonna do with that 2x4"...

x2 mothballs, but they DO stink.

BTW, mouse pee is about as corrosive as anything gets. One of the little beggars widdled on a 420J stainless knife that lived under my seat, and rusted the point nearly off.

I have seen what mice can do to wiring. I work on generators for a living and remote generators that do not get alot of attention usually get infested with mice. In your local grocery store they sell peppermint oil, as mentioned. use it. Smells good and keeps them away.
And also find there nest if there is one. get rid of it and use the peppermint oil there too.

Jeeeeez, ya can't catch one of those "OWLs" and keep him around to put inside the jeep when ya park it ???? Owls are a lot better getting mice than Cats, don't need to sun themselves in the rear window.... "BH"
