More tranny questions

Will the AX-15 from a 95 Commanche W/4.0L fit into my 95 Wrangler with AX-15 on the 4.0L ? Also, will an AX-15 from a 90 wrangler W/4.2L 258 fit? The salvage yard told me it wouldn't fit.....Anyone here know different? Thanks, as always, for your help.

go for the 95, pilot tip size of the input shaft was changed (i believe) in 91.. so if you went with the earlier tranny you'd have to change out the pilot bearing in the crank and iirc you'd have to order one as it wasn't an oem size. Also any ax15 before 94 would have an internal slave cylinder bellhousing (which you don't want)

As for them fitting, there will be differences only in the mounting bracketry and the tcase linkage and possibly the shift tower. Just use everything off your old tranny, it will bolt up in the same location..

Transmissions are all too often referred to as trannys, and i think most of us are a bit more mature than that

Thanks Darkproximity for technical insight, and thanks steve1ddd for the grammar lesson. I didn't realize "tranny" would appear immature next to "whats the name of your Jeep" and "does this sound sketchy to you". LOL still trying to get a grip on the personality of this forum...........

If the complete motor is obd1 (95 or older) then no. TJs are obd2, so the computer and wiring harness were different. That means connectors ends will be different, iirc more o2 sensors on a tj, plus interfacing them with the gauges might be more than a chore
