mud hints

I went out with a friend of mine in md not to long ago and was disturbed when he put his rubicon in low lock to go through a mud hole, but figured ok hell start in a high gear.. well not high enough, I have since helped him a little but I think mabye us veterans could put something up to kinda help the noobs to trailing figure out the best way to aproach that rock or mud hole. shared experiance if you will.

Look you azz, this was like 5 months ago. I hadnt been wheeling in 2 years, and wanted to try my lockers You can let it go now! By the way, you failed to mention the deseil that had to pull us out...

I thought about doing something like this before, but its all about experience. Every rock/hole is different. Just gotta find a club.

And please tell me that practice should NEVER take place when you're out with your 8 year old, on a 2 track you don't know when it's going to be dark soon.

Tell me it's a MOM thing and turning around on a 2 track (...which took 5 minutes since there was a tree in front and a tree directly behind me...) on count of a large mud hole is a perfectly acceptable thing to do knowing my husband is at the Motorcross with my older boys and wouldn't find it funny if he had to come fetch my butt.

Say I did the reasonable considerate thing not that I'm not worthy of George ... because frankly that's how I feel right now.

I go though most mud holes in 4lo, but at a high rate of speed if needed.

how can it be a hole if it has mud in it? I think it would be an mud obstruction.

jczmom did a good thing...I don't think George minds a bit, you've got to learn the ropes, when you go out with other folks that can winch or tow ya out you can try those things

I've always run in the mud in 4H. Never have been told whats right/wrong, but I've yet to get stuck. Just keep steady and keep the tires movin. I'm very interested to learn some good tips though b/c there's plenty I don't know about wheelin since I'm less than a year into it.

really its not a bad thing it just limits your amount of wheel speed without changing gears. you start off in second in four low your stuck there. On the newer rubicons 2nd doesn't give you much wheel speed, so your tires don't clean out as well.. you can go through in 4L you just have to start in a higher gear.

I love the mud holes! My FAVORITE! I go through in 4H and just keep the tires moving. I went through some nasty stuff last weekend and almost got stuck but got out. Never went 4L. I only use 4L on the REALLY steep sand dunes, and I run in 2nd gear. Otherwise it's 2 or 4H for me. Haven't had any trouble yet.

This isn't the best stuff I've gone through, but it's the only pic I've got, sorry.
