Almost always in my Jeep: multiple flashlights, larger & smaller needle nose pliers, phillips & flat head screw drivers, longer jumper cables, treesaver/tow strap, 20'-30' chain, 4' high-lift jack, regular jack, winch controller, a towel (which I use to roll my side windows up in), duct tape, extra small fuses (glovebox fusebox), pry bar and some work gloves.

Most of those items are out of the way; either in the console (between the front seats) or beneath my seats.

Longer road trips and off road trips I generally toss in a tool bag more or less containing: torx bits (w/ some duplicates), 3/4" socket sets (shorter SAE and longer metric){including a ratchet, extensions, angles, bit adapters for torx bits, and drill attachment}, charged cordless drill (w/ battery charger), a magnet pan or 2 (for all the loose bits, sockets, and any screws/bolts that may come off the Jeep), a rubber mallet and a hammer.

When Iím loaded up it really doesnít seem like a whole lot because the items in the first list are mostly tucked away (in the console between the front seats or beneath all of the seats) and the second list is within 1 tool bag.

These tools arenít geared towards fixing trail damage, more so due to my lack of mechanical/vehicle knowledge.

Went to harbor freight for some cheap socket sets, adjustable wrenches, duct tape and various other tools I keep in a canvas bag in the rear. Now I have everything I need and can leave my good tools in the garage.

I carry a standard issue jack, needle nose, & fishing gear. You might reckon I'd feel a bit incompetent, but I don't... Well, at least not yet anyway.
