My jeep encountered its first wreck today :(

me and my brother were taking a long trailer full of shingles (we put a new roof on the house this week) and the trailer started fish tailing and once it started there was no stopping it, it spun us all the way around and into the ditch we were both fine. the jeep suffered though, a good size hole above the passenger fender flare and a couple other body damages the worst part is the rear driver side leaf spring popped out of the shackle it does have full coverage i just hope they dont call it totaled, but anyway lessons learned: dont pull such a long trailer on a jeep, and if you do make sure all the wait is on the front of the trailer...

that sucks, and glad everyone is ok. but the statement, make sure the weight is all on the front of the trailer isn't right either. wranglers have such short wheel bases they don't make good tow vehicles for practically any trailer. the important part is the distribution, but if you have all the weight too far forward, your front end isn't on the ground hardly, and you will not be in control either.

and obviously there were no trailer brakes to help right this scenario either i assume. sounds like the trailer tried to pass you, if that was the case you were supposed to speed up actually.

It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president."

Sorry to hear about this, but it sounds like you were cruisin for a bruisin as my mom would say trying to pull a trailer full of shingles with a Jeep. The short wheelbase just won't handle much back there . . . I think 2000 pounds is about the max you'd want to try to haul unless you have a 4 door JK or Cherokee. Good luck dealing with the insurance . . . if it does get totalled, you could probably buy it back and fix it.
Bite the hand that feeds you . . . you've had more than enough to eat already.

Really sorry to hear that. Glad you and your brother are okay.

Glad you didn't hurt yourselves or someone else. A little lesson that will last a long time.

I think the TJ's are rated at 1500. The LJ's are rated at 3500.
