My new custom rear bumper from Thedirtworx

Figured that I would share a few pics of my new acquisition. My tailgate started getting loose from carrying my 32" spare so I decided to upgrade a little. Here is the result. (mind you I have not attached the latch yet)

It is a standard Thedirtworx swingout tire carrier that I had him do a little customizing to it. Has the optional D-ring mounts and CB mount. I also had him add a 2" receiver mount to the top of the bumper. As you can see it came with a Hi-Lift mount that can either fit up top or in the bottom receiver. I have a lockable hitch pin to secure the mount and the Jack is pad-lockable.

It did take awhile to get done but was well worth the wait. The quality is amazing esp the welds.

**Now here is my question. It is still bare metal so what would you suggest painting it with. Should I herculiner it, rattle can it, or what?

Nice what did it run ya? I would either powder coat it or herculiner.

Cost was a tad over $400 but that included all the mounting hardware and shipping from Ca to Ct.

Use a metal cleaner on it before paint... or I used brake cleaner on mine... then used a good spray paint.. does it have a frame tie in?

Get some wax & greese remover, wipe it over good with it & then do a small part at a time ,wipe it off untill your rag is not showing dirt. Leave it to dry for an hour or so,or blow out all the joins with an air compressor to make sure it is dry before painting with either a rattle can, or some type of metal paint. Some paint needs primer, some doesn't.

Nice bar! it will look great

Leave it that color bare metal! Put a ton of clear on it and then it leave the signatures on it!

i just did a front bumper, it was bare metal when i bought it, here are the steps i did and it worked really well.
1) clean with Acetone, Mineral spirits seem to leave a resido.
2) spray two coats of self etching primer
3) spray on three coats of duplicolor bedliner in a can.

I like it it gives it about the same texture as powder coat but with the ability to touch it up unlike powder coat.

just an idea for you, sweet bumper though.

I like it.
If you mount fuel cans, can you get to them without removing the spare?

Well I have been thinking about adding a jerry can but I havent had the chance to see how well it will fit. If it does it will go in the inner triangle and will be accessible when the swing out is open. Unfortunatley my jerry can is stored at my rents house.

Here is a link to his seller page..... He has a few generic listings for them but you can tell him what you want. Only issue is since they are custom to order they take same time to build

eBay Store - TheDirtworx: Category 1, Category 2, Category 3

It took about 6-7 weeks to get mine but I kept on adding things for him to do. In the long run through its worth it.

So in other words, blame Jp90Talon on your bumper taking so long

No, the thing is on this guys site he states they take about two weeks but his feedbacks were all pissed because it took more like 4 weeks so I already knew what I was getting into. Then I received the front bumper last week from this same guy and on the packing slip it said 2 of 2. Well, I only received 1 of two. It's a nice bumper though.
