Jeep love

Well I bought my jeep about 5 months ago, and My Girlfriend of 3 1/2 years hated it with a passion. She said the wind blows to much in her face it's too rough riding, too small no real use for it. And this is coming from a gal who barrel races horses for fun!!!! So I told her I had to find someone who like to do the things I like to do also and we split up. I mean common I went to every barrel race with her. 4 a week some times and driving for hours, saddling horses taking pictures and cleaning up horse shit!! ect.... Then I want to go trail riding and she says NO!!! Well I really don't miss her much. I miss the horses, but NOW I need a good jeeping buddy. I think a dog would make a great partner lol.

Wow, you had enough huevos to go ahead and do the deed. I bet you are happier in some ways. I hate having to do that to people I care about, but I've had it done to me and know how the other person feels when it happens. It can feel like you killed that person, and s/he knows you did it.

"I know what you did last summer."

But you do what you have to do. No sense being miserable in a relationship.

Started going with my wife in 1955 and her dad had a 46 CJ-2A, so she was somewhat into jeeps then. Got Married in 1957 and a year later I bought my first, a 1946 CJ-2A, just like Dad had. We've been wheeling since with an upgrade in 1967 to a year old CJ-5. Still got that and have done a lot of mods and restored it. Upgraded again in 2004 to a new 05 Rubi and in 2009 she bought me a RE LA 4 and 1/2 kit for Fathers day, bless her heart. She still likes to wheel at 73 but has trouble getting in with the lift and 35s, she is only 5 foot. So I bought her a fold up step and she pulls it in with a rope. One way you might get the wife interested is to get invloved with groups or friends that wheel. Hopefully she likes the outdoors and the jeep will open many avenues to explore and she will meet a lot of great people. Good Luck!

I had a husband then I got a Jeep. Husband got an oxy problem so I got rid of him. Took wedding band set and that Jeep and sold to get better (more solid) Jeep. Over the years picked my rig over a guy every time. Finally found a Jeeper that will put up with my crazy ass

I'm just morbidly curious... Since you posted it out in the open, I believe that it's okay to ask, "What is an oxy problem?"

And it's good that you are alive so far. Sometimes, women get into dangerous relationships that end up killing them through domestic violence.

I guess it's easy for me to say, my hubs' is happy to go along with my Jeep whims, but we do make sure he gets something he wants as well for his toys or truck or whatever, he has a rzr.
Good luck
Good advice! I bought my wife laser hair removal after she let me buy my bumpers. "Sadly" hers was more expensive than mine so now I get a few more mods to equal it out.

As for Toolman: it sounds like she is hating the mods more than the Jeep itself.

I had a great marriage, we were best friends and both gearheads. Restored some classic cars, had speed boats etc. He hurt his back and the doctor put him on Oxy's (pain pills) before it was known how addictive they were. He became an addict. I got him into a morphine clinic and he started getting better then he decided to start selling his pills. That was when I left.

Hardest thing I ever did but I am stronger because of it.

If a man shoves me or hits me I am out of there...don't have time for that crap.

Truth is I fit better in a TJ than a Dodge Ram. Still learning to love my Jeep but it is getting easier every day.

My girlfriend hasn't even seen the jeep yet (we're on xmas vacation still from college) and she already hates how much I talk about it. She calls it The Other Woman. She also can't drive stick and i want to teach her how, maybe she'll catch the fever too!?

Hey man gotta give ya props for having the cahones' to do it. But in the end, if you're not happy, then it's not worth it, so I can't blame ya.

That is an awesome story Ron, & I really appreciate you sharing it. I truly admire a relationship & love like that. It is something that alot of us younger folks can learn from.

I agree with your advice & we were actually accepted into our first local Jeep club. Our first outing is Sunday, I am hoping she enjoys it. I'll let you know

I have a lot of respect for that, you are a strong woman indeed I've also seen what Oxycodone & Vicatin can do to someone. It's saddening really.

My wife is awesome. When I first got my TJ she looked at it and said "id drive this" ,keep in mind it didnt run right & has some rust below the doors.Unfortunately its a stick so she cant(he he). When I was going to sell my Mustang she encouraged me not to sell it & told me Id regret it.Pretty impressive since my car takes a spot in the garage where she could park.

My wife tells me that she hates my Jeep all the time. It is probably because it sat for 4 years and we werent able to enjoy it. Now I am in the middle of a frame off rebuild it takes what little spare time that I have away from her.

I did use the you get something if the Jeep gets something trick. I got a Grand Cherokee so I could pull out the 318 and the tranny out for my Jeep and she got her diamond reset.

I think the biggest problem that I have is that we were in a car accident back in March where she suffered a pretty severe head injury that caused her to lose much of her memory. She doesnt remember all of the good times we had in the Jeep. Hopefully when I get it back together we can get out and enjoy it again and she will at least like it a little again.

The other day when I told her that I wanted to buy a CJ2A I got a "Hell No". I definately need to get the Jeep back together and get her back on board with this Jeep thing. I am thinking that I am buying the CJ anyway. Maybe that has someting to do with her hating Jeeps too.

I'm actually amazed how many women don't want their husbands to buy a Jeep. I'm trying to sell my 2002 since I've got a 2012 on order. I've had 4 men interested and their wives have been the ones to say no.

I'm the one that first found a Jeep and talked my husband into buying it, I'm the one who picked out and drives the 2002 and I'm the one that ordered the 2012 and picked out all the goodies that will be installed when it's in. I love my Jeep and all Jeeps for that matter. Of course I also love my little G35 Coupe, I have the best of both worlds.

I wish I could find a wife like me to let her husband buy my Jeep

My wife totally likes my '12 JKR. Only problem is that she broke her left hand about a month ago, and it makes it difficult to get into passenger side. But not the driver's side!

sometimes she mildly tolerates its (top off on summer afternoons) to violently hates it (any other time)

Being my primary vehicle helps, sometimes the upgrades get mistakenly classified as necessary when explaining them to her. BUT that can bite ya back if it seems like a "unreliable money pit that we should just sell for something more reliable" so i have to balance the (WINK WINK) repairs.

She hasn't ridden in it since Sept maybe. One day I'll have to explain all the changes and where they came from.

I do stress that the more I do to it the more desirable it will be if I even need to sell it..."Its a investment that's better than anything else in this economy" (my words)

Only problem with both people having rigs and buying mods is all the money goes there. Sometimes we get an extension on the power bill for jeep repairs. CC and loans are paid by due date but eating and other luxuries take a hit lol

That's how I explained guns, Jeeps, my miata race car, etc. to the wife too. All of my hobbies are expensive and time consuming. She needs to deal or find someone else.

Nothing like comprimise-from both sides, guess it depends how much you love your spouse. I love my Jeep but if I had to choose between that or my husband I would choose him. He never gives me ultimatums & we work with each other on decisions about hobbys

My wife loves all of our hobbies- riding the motorcycle, shooting, and tooling around in the Jeep. In fact she changed the oil and worked on some rust spots while I replaced the starter and did a few other things this weekend. After that she made bacon cheeseburger soup. Best wife ever.

Good for you! My wife finally conceded on my Jeep and is choosing to simply ignore that muddy money pit that lives next to her new car in the driveway.
