Jeep loving women are few and far between. Mine isn't a fan but nor does she hate it. Every time I talk about a new mod for the jeep, she tries to talk me out of it.

What came first, the Jeep or the Spouse?

The Jeep, so she already knew going into the marriage. That's my alibi

Well if she knew about it, and the obsession, she should understand.

Wait! Its a jeep thing!!!......now I know why she doesn't understand.

Have you taken her off road with it? Has she driven it? What does she drive?

I've taken her off-road in it, she can't drive it because she can't drive a stick (I think that's why she hates it but won't admit it), she drives a Ford F-150 Lariat 4x4

Ok, so now I have to ask:

How do you know she hates it?

LMAO, sounds fun indeed, but might be a bit difficult. Use your imagination remembering that I am 6'6" tall weighing 300lbs & she is 6'2" tall ......... So, yea .... lol

The solution is simple....teach her how to drive it. Chances are your next post will be, "My spouse always insists she drives".

But also, they tend "hate the Jeep" if you spend more time with it than her. So find that balance. The Jeep manuals have left out those instructions:

1) Go for a 1/2 hour walk with your wife. (Tell her you love her.)
2) Disconnect the battery
3) Raise Jeep on jack stands
4) etc

Talk to her & see if she will agree to joint mods, if the Jeep gets something so does she (or something for her truck if she wants) It could be anything she likes, day spa treatment-jewellery or whatever as long as it's fair. Also try to get her to understand that it's not just a vehicle, it's also your hobby.
I guess it's easy for me to say, my hubs' is happy to go along with my Jeep whims, but we do make sure he gets something he wants as well for his toys or truck or whatever, he has a rzr.
Good luck

I wouldnt have married my wife if she didnt love offroading/Jeeps... Its a passion and a life style. Had she not loved those things she probably would not have loved me nor would she have interested me. But Im from the south... Its a lot easier to find women into that kind of stuff.

I'm so thankful the husband and I enjoy many of the same actives. Jeeping happens to be one of those things. We started with 1 I enjoyed it so much I hated to give up the wheel when we went wheeling I made him go buy his own! LOL

Our biggest issue is who gets to mod first LOL

My wife doens't love my Jeep, but she far from hates it. We enjoy a lot of outdorr activites, and the Jeep is perfect for that. Just find some things to do with her that make the Jeep fun.

Yes. My wife hates my Jeep as well. She hates getting in it. She hates getting out of it. She hates how it looks in our driveway. I do alright for myself and she drives a shiny new Mazda3, so she feels like I should be driving a BMW, Porsche, etc. to show off how well off I am. Seems silly as none of those cars make me as happy as my Jeep.

I understand that well, I don't do too bad myself. Biggest thing, I really don't care what other ppl. think. She does. Sounds familiar.

Absolutely! That's why I made sure she had a nice new car. Then I got a raise and her 2 year old car is probably losing some of it's luster so I'm sure she'll want to trade up to a beemer, merc, etc. soon. That's fine.. she can drive the new car and I can drive my 21 year old Jeep and 11 year old truck. They both suit me just fine.

My wife hated mine until our club was on a wheeling trip to Attica, IN. While I was helping a buddy get his Jeep on his trailer after he rolled it, my wife and a friend's wife took off in my Jeep and went wheeling for an hour or so. On the way home she informed me she wanted one of her own. From that point on she has become a huge Jeep fan.

I'll help you out here... I have this tendency, so please don't feel as though I am judging you. Do you have a tendency to talk for a very long time about one topic? I do, and it drives people who don't have this tendency nuts. I don't know why it is. I just have the ability to talk about the same thing for much longer than most people's attention span.

It might be that you need to find someone else who has the same love and ability to stay focused on certain topics, like the Jeep for such long periods. LOL, I guess talking about the Jeep elicits a feeling of warmth, connectedness, satisfaction, you know...

That's just me. I grew up deaf, unknown to people until I was seven and a half, and I tend to live alone, not just being the only person at home, but people rarely visit me at home. I have probably have had at most 6 or 7 people I know well visit me inside the perimeter of my home in the last 6+ years. I don't know why that is, but that's how my life is. So... Because of relative isolation from people in general, when people get me talking, GD, here it comes, out like flood waters! That's just like people coming back to civilization from long solo jobs into the wilderness. They can talk for hours and hours and hours. They've been out of contact for so long that it's what they have to do. Just talk.

When I am dating someone, the love for the outdoors and 4X4 vehicles is a must. When I hear, "No, I don't know much about it. It might be interesting," we try it out together and see carefully if the person's really interested and has the attention span for it. Otherwise, it doesn't work out, or we can just do "certain things" with each other, no strings attached.

The thing I love about a manual transmission is that I feel empowered, like I can do ANYTHING. The trouble with being a woman in human society is that we have not been actively encouraged to just pick whatever we want to do and do it. Living in rural south Texas, the ability to drive ANYTHING is crucial, at least it was in my time when automatics were expensive options or simply not as available and more expensive to fix. The ability to drive is mobility. You can't just walk five miles to the grocery store in the winter and bring back 60 lbs of groceries. You could, but it would be hell and take forever.

I'm glad that Dad taught me how to drive a manual, because there were times when my car was down, but there was the truck, and sometimes it was available for me to use. Besides, it was fun to drive it! I haven't forgotten the day I test drove that JK with a manual. It was like coming off the ranch yesterday. I never lost it.
