My wife bought me a Refrigerator!??!

Should I be pissed?

Lets be honest...a fridge in the garage is awesome. I now have a place to keep some pop along with an ample supply of Porter and IPAs while I work on and stare at my Jeep.

However, If I were to buy my wife a dishwasher or a blender for her birthday...I would be in the doghouse for months if not years.

It was a thoughtful gift as she knows that I often come back into the house for another Beer while working on or staring at my Jeep. The fridge in the garage now houses my beer and soda but also frees up space in the main fridge for her. Plus...she is no longer bothered by me returning to the fridge every 15 min. for another cold one.

After 20+ years of marriage I know that she would use her birthday dishwasher as leverage for girls night or a random shopping spree.

So...should I simply thank her and enjoy the latest addition to my garage or should I use this for leverage on my next golf outing or off-road weekend?

I can always count on you Moose!

So there you have it. The price she pays for getting me a fridge is a golf round AND an off-road weekend.

Dang I should have thought of that when I got my fridge..... But it was a hand me down when my wife got the new one for the kitchen so I probably wouldn't have had much leverage....hahaha

You are on to something there Moose! I can always throw my clubs in the back then toss all the camping gear on top. Heck...the wife would never know I was golfing on my off-road weekend.

No, you shouldn't be pissed.
Sounds like a win-win situation to me. After 20+ years of marriage, you already know the answer. She wanted it, you got it. LOL

I think a beer fridge is quite different from a dishwasher. A dishwasher represents scullery work. A beer fridge represents support for your hobby. Or encouragement to stay out of the house.

Your around Indy right?
Westside...near Brownsburg and IRP. We need to work on a central Indy club. I know there are a couple groups out there already but I can't leave my driveway without waving at a dozen Jeepers. Jeeps are BIG in Indy and we need to organize. I think Indiana could put one of the best clubs together if we tried...afterall its Indiana...theres nothing else for us to do.

I thought you were on the south side of Indy. Some good hunting up in Tipton. I got a 12 pointer there last year on my way back to Indy...didn't damage the car but scratched up the window pretty good.

Man I am everywhere in this state. I go to school in Vincennes, my parents live in Tipton since I dont have a place yet due to school so I live there in the summer. I hunt in Green County, got some property there, I fish up north near the town of Leesburg.

Yeah some decent one have been taking

She bought the fridge to KEEP YOU IN THE GARAGE AND OUT OF HER HOUSE.
It also gets all of your beer out of her fridge. Now she has more room for condiments, fruit salad and yogurt.

If you've been married that long, you should know that the house is hers, and anyplace that has bugs is yours. (Basement, garage)

You don't REALLY think that a wife buys a husband a present just to be nice, do you?

Next year she will have a plumber install a sink out ther to keep you out of the bathroom, then she'll have a carpenter build something out there so she can clean out your stuff from the closets.

Not pissed or female, married for twelve years.

I don't have my own closet either.

Remember, the gift is given with the intent to make the receiver happy. YOU are happy to get a fridge as a present because it will make your life more pleasant but a dishwasher would not have the same effect on your wife. Unless of course she is the rare kind of gal that would appreciate something like that.

But then again, the cardinal rule of marriage is "what Momma wants, Momma gets" that I'm sure you're VERY familiar with so I'd suggest not opening up a can of worms by not fully appreciating your new fridge.

Did she at least fill it with beer first? If not, I believe that's legally grounds for divorce. In all seriousness, I'd be amped about a beer fridge in the garage (let's face it, I'd be amped about having a garage)...but I'd definately angle for getting it filled.

My wife got me a fridge for our family room when we lived in our old townhouse. It was one of the coolest gifts ever! I loved that thing!

Here's the coolest fridge ever! No pun intended!
