This is why I love this forum. Get married! Hilarious. I dated a girl for about 4 years and whenever we would go somewhere that broad knew all the back roads and shortcuts.......to the mall, shopping center, or Target.

I use a Garmin 60CS. I believe the CSX has a removable card for maps. I use this handheld one in my Jeep and for use in Geocaching.
Yes Garmin has great software. Their mapsource products are really great. A bit on the expensive side but well worth the money. I have planned quite a few trips using the software. A big plus for me is that I have it installed on my laptop and can look at the maps anytime I need to while out on a trip.
Had the TomTom and it lasted for about 90 days before it quit. Go with Garmin, currently using my lap top with MS streets and trips software. Its way to cumbersome for offroading but works great on road trips.
I have had a Tom Tom One for about 2 years. I have no problems with it. They are also down to $150 if you look around. I paid $250 for mine. It is a personal preference. It has taken me from Indiana to Florida twice, South Carolina, and other places. I have complete trust in it. My only concern is that I am afraid they make you lazy. Sort of like Spell Check does. You count on the GPS instead of your own brain after awhile.
