Need air compressor suggestions

I thought since the guys that troll this section build stuff I would get the best responses here.

I am buying a house with a 40x80 shop and will finally be getting a real compressor. I just can't spend $1000 +. I was looking at a couple at home depot in the $500 - $600 range. Any suggestions for a compressor in that price range. I would like a 60 gallon.

Get a belt drive compressor with a cast iron oil type pump.
Dont buy a direct drive oilless one they are junk.
I have a 35 gallon 5 horse vertical unit from Home Depot and have been using it for6 years painting cars sandblasting and running air tools. I have an old 25 gallon tank as reserve air when I need it but seldom do.

Best thing I know to do when searching is to figure out the CFM requirement of the most common tools you will use. Then you will be able to identify the compressor you need.

Look on craigslist. I got a crazy deal from a couple spliting up. I have an 80GAL that has never ran out of air on me. I have ran air sanders non stop for over an hour with drop in psi.

Get the biggest and best one you can. You will be glad you did.
