Need some opinions on potential purchase!

Found a Jeep on craigslist, being sold as a project Jeep, it says the year is 86.5 I'm guessing because the tub is off a 94 so he put 86.5 as a joke.. Anyway, Its a CJ7 I guess. (new to the jeep world forgive me for not knowing)

$1000. He says: "Drive train is original but good. Straight six 4x4 automatic. All new fuel lines, brake lines, frame is sealed and undercoated. Tub is from 94 wrangler. New rear lights led. Diamon plate dash. But still in project shape. Will need hood, windshield, gas pedal, wiper assemble, heater box and blower. Like I said still a project. Run out of room and time to complete it."

Now, I prefer to buy a jeep with a manual transmission for the sake of fun. I don't want to pass up something that may be a steal just because its auto though, I could either learn to love it OR fix it up and sell it for a little profit.

This Jeep is 2+ hours away so I'm reluctant to drive just to inspect it so I figured I would ask some opinions on here. THanks in advance. If i Think of anything else I'll add it to here.

I guess I didnt really get my question across. What I'm wondering is if that sounds like it would be worth it or if it sounds like trouble.

J ust E mpty E very P ocket Parts alone are worth more than the asking price. Could be a nice project but anyone can tell ya the driveline is good if it aint running. None the less you could part it and make a profit. I bought a $500 Jeep one time and invested $15K. Be careful and set a budget. After learning my lesson, my present YJ gets the cheapest part available and I dont have to have every option known to Jeephood on it.
