Need Toy Winch?

OK so I bought this power wheels jeep for my son and giving it to him for christmas this year its taken me like a total of 20 hrs to paint it to look just like mine (this is everything from undercarriage to roll bars to floor board and pedal I mean everything) But i got a winch on the front of my jeep and really want one to put on his! As of now I have an old spool from speaker wire and rope/clothes line rope/string wrapped around it and some "L" brackets to mount it to the front but... i got 50ft of rope wrapped around it and I have now way to stop it from unrolling i dont want him un rolling all that rope and having to roll it back up! i can take rope off to make it shorter but I need any input I can get? im willing to spend some money on it to make it just like mine even considering if someone has an old broken winch like off a 4wheeler or anything small ill buy it! Also any thoughts on.....i got an old soft top thats got holes in it so was thinkin of cutting it up to install a soft top in it!

This is what it looks like for now!

Would a harbor freight ATV winch be out of the question? Replace the wire with rope of course.

Might I add, you are hands down the coolest dad on the forum.

Check out some rc websites that sell mini winches that actually work and function like the real thing(probably have to chop off the top of the plastic tube bumper). Thinking about getting one for my traxxas summit.

You need to relocate those lights from the roll bar to the window pillars.

Got a busted warn winch off an Atv. Would sale for 45 + shipping. Needs a new contactor and would probably function again.

That is awesome. I remember when my boys rolled their power wheels Jeep. The velcro seat belts actually held them in the seat upside down.

What about using one of those hand crank winches you see on boat trailers and just replacing the wire.

It'll be Sunday or Monday, I'm out of state on holiday right now. I'll pm them to you asap. If you go to warn and look at their 2500 Atv winch it's that model.

I'll take a pic on my kids power wheel jeep wrangler

Do not want to be a wet rag. But be careful with ropes and motorized reels around kids. He might want to go on an adventure by himself and get caught in a loop with the winch running. I would go with a manual hand crank like a big offshore fishing reel.

Yea i know tell me about it when i first saw it i was like hey $15 for the power wheels $40 for a battey and a little paint that i had that was gonna paint my flares with and now 4 cans of grey and 3 cans of black spray paint, and now a winch next thing is ill have to get rid of the 6volt battery and go with and engine and axles and drive line and alot more thinkin now it would be cheaper to just buy a car for him lol but its all good thats father and son time! I love it my wife tells me all the time that im more excited about this than he will be since hes only 1 and cant even really ride/drive it yet!

I've done a little robotics research utilizing an old powerwheels Jeep. -yes robotics.

If the little Jeep you have only has one motor on one wheel it is pretty easy to add one on the other side and bump up the drive capability.

Then you are jamming.

Never quite had the chance to figure out 4WD for those, though it was a topic one night long long ago.

Need to figure out how to put some real rubber tires on that thing so it won't bounce and slide around as much, plus it will get better traction and give it a bit of a lift too!

You can wire two (or three) of the batteries in series. It'll get scary fast running on 18v.

Go ahead, ask me how I know.

The wiring starts to melt though.

That is an awesome job on the power wheels!

A friend in my club built this for his son. Pretty cool. You guys are good Dads. No motor though. He put a little cooler on the back. Just like his Dad's Jeep.

This is exactly what i tried to do at first had and spool and a mount to mount it to the front bumper but then was gonna put it on and had no way to stop the spool from unrolling it was a little smaller than this so had like 50' of clothes line rope on it I couldnt figure out a way he could stop it and
so now ive went with a fishing reel and put a little smaller rope on it now just got to mount it but if there was a way he had to stop this im all ears!

That thing look awesome thought exactly what i had in mind!

Yea man I know eactly what you mean i looked for one and the only ones I could find was kinda pricey so i kinda gave up the look then my wife dragged me to a childrens sale (yea stood in line at like 6 in the morning, I was pissed at first) but yea got some good deals and on our way out saw this jeep sittin in the last room for $15 said "it needed a battery" so thought hey ill buy a battery and try it if it dont work im only out 15 bucks, and it worked so i started painting for about 4-6 weeks on the weekends at like 9 oclock at night on with a few beers and ALOT of cans of spray paint and news papers i was painting!
If you do find one one ill make a suggestion, got to lowes and get a few of those clamps that pop on to the end of metal rods there like little caps youll see when you take the power wheels apart its on the wheels and the steering wheel. I didnt take mine off so there are a few places not really viewable that isnt painted due to hard to get spray can, so yea look at it good and take it all apart even the little clamps for the hood all come off(take them apart once you get them off so you dont spray the metal spring) I did so didnt work good then lol but if you find one hit me up if you need any help! also ill keep a look out on craigslist around here for ya!
