New Here

Just registered and new to the forum and the whole Jeep thing.

My son just bought a nice clean 99 wrangler (I think sport model-don't have all the lingo down yet!) and I loved it. Wanted a truck, gave up the big vehicle a few years back for a fuel economy car, loved the mpg, hated everything else.

I am in IL and especially after this winter my husband and I have been saying one literally needs an off road package to drive on our roads out here. We talked about the jeep a year or so ago, I looked them up and thought naw, for the money I could get a sweet truck and better gas mileage. Then the kid got his jeep and I got the estimate to fix all the front end damage on the malibu along with breaks and rotors, tires and muffler on my 05 with 50,000...forget it.

Hubby already has a sweet diesel one ton that will take care of any horse trailering needs I have and we decided the jeep would be the way to go, we don't need two trucks right? So on a whim we looked and when I found the one I wanted at a dealer (they were few are far between) combined with the dealer giving me a decent trade in and something off the sticker (no one seems to be dealing, in fact they were marking them up over the sticker) I came home with a rubicon-two door. Not quite over the sticker shock or the payment shock but every day I drive it I love it more and more.

We even got a winter snow storm on the first day of spring so I could put it in four wheel drive and play with that right away.

I am not sure if I'll ever fully play with some of the off road stuff but I went from cringing and cussing on our rotten roads to having a blast on them. It's so much fun that I wonder why more people don't get them. I love the fact that it's all about heavy duty and no bling too.

Please bear with me as I figure it all out. I got alot more to learn I am sure.

Some basic info about me, three teens, married forever, retail manager, bunch of dogs and two horses. In my spare time...ugh, no spare time but used to have time to go fourwheeling or trail riding on the horse and team penning.

I grew up having parents that own a stable and I enjoy trailrides with my rig now. I used to tell them a Jeep was cheaper than horses but after I got addicted to it and my baby grew I realized they are probably about even

Thanks for the welcome...yup, we learned about the wave real fast, LOL!

Crafty, hubby begged me years ago to give up the horses for a four wheeler, said it would be cheaper. We got into the four wheelers too, I think the horses are still ahead of the game once the guys got into hopping them up plus a few broken bones. However, I am thinking he'll have to widen my trails so I can shortcut in the jeep too.
I am not sure that chasin cows or cans would be as fun in a jeep but I'll bet I'll know by the end of the summer.
