New Jeep??

OK guys(and gals), I may have found a new heep. I am trying to talk the wife into it but I doubt it. I will list some of the things it has and let me know if it is a good deal or not.

97 TJ
2.5 4 cyl
5 spd
Clear title
38 TSL
Fox Coilovers
full roll cage welded to frame
dana 60 front
14 bolt rear
true beadlocks
Warn winch
rocker gaurds
comp cut
stretched about 6-8''
SYE
Currie Antirock sway bar
4:1 tera low TC
electric fan

These are just some of the mods done to it. I am trying to get more info.
I know the guy who built it, he works with my dad. Great guy who knows his stuff. He is asking $13,500 for it. It has not be wheeled hard. I would love to buid one my self but I don't have the time or tools to do so. So I am gona have to buy one and build it as I go. Let me know if this is reasonable or not. This one seems to be pretty solid.

Thanks
Hardy

I think it sounds like a bargain at 13,500 based on what you've listed. Hopefully it's geared pretty deep or the 4cyl is going to have serious issues trying to push 38's on the trail.

Also what are your use plans for it? Daily Driver? Trail rig only?

I forgot to add it has 5.13, and detroit lockers front and rear. This would be a trail rig only. The only bad thing is I would have to buy a trailer to haul this monster to and from the trails. I am gona try and get some pics but don't hold me to it. Anybody else? I really need some advise on this b/c I don't know if it is worth it or not. Anythign you would change or do diffrent?

Thanks
Hardy

Go for it. The axles alone are worth it.

A 16' car hauler trailer is only about $ 1500.00

Honestly without seeing it we don't know if there's anything we'd change. If it was me buying it I would upgrade it to some 40's, and change from a 5speed to an auto.

The final decision is going to have to rest with you, but there is a lot of money in parts in that rig and odds are it's been built well. I've hardly ever seen a dirtly built rig that is running 500 a piece coilovers on each corner. The electric fan is going to give some of the HP back to the 4cyl and the 5.13's along with 4:1 TCase gearing will give you a pretty darn good crawl ratio. Then throw the 14 and 60 on top of that and if you need to hammer down the pedal to get up or thru something you won't have to worry too much about breaking things.

If the weather is nice tomorrow I will take some pics. Do you think the 4cyl needs to be replaced? V8 maybe? I dunno thats why I ask. I like the fact that it is built strong and will hopefully last a long time with some mods here and there. Hope to get the pics soon......

What's your application? What do want to get out of this deal? IMO - if you intend to keep it strictly off road, go for it. However, if you want something the wife can (share) drive to mom's house an hour away, you might have a tough sale for her.
