New meaning to "hydro" shocks (stocks taken apart)

So i'm doing this for a project so dont cut my head off please

This is a stock jeep front shock.

Did some 1 say "hydro shocks"? That makes more sense now.

See the little cut i made? There are 3 more by the end of the cylinder opposite side of the hook. I made 3 so i can release the pressure of it safely.

End cut off

Continued....

Hmm a cap.. made out of plastic

Hole made

Hehe what else to use?

as you can see it has a rubber "gasket"?

Thats whats connected to the metal shinny rod

Note the little rubber piece that absorbs the force when the shocks acts as a limiting strap.

hmm the wheel w/ the holes is weird.. other side is similar to that one. so you pay 50 bucks for a wheels w/ 6-7 washers? lol

And at last thats what my project will look like.. To each of the holes there will be a spring to create the force.. the bean bag goes in the other end and will shoot out in the direction you point it. Still not all done since i need the frame on the bottom. (stand)

That is a pretty cool idea but you must have a ton of time on your hands.

Its a final project for the engineering class worth 25 or 30% of my entire grade

Cool...I had a class like that back in the early 90's. It was fun to take things apart and reengineer them into something completely different.

by early 90's he means early like 90 BC. he was helping to invent the wheel. haha or maybe it was back in like 11190 BC, when the dinosaurs were eating other dinosaurs- and there he was, with his jeep. One Jeep to rule them all!

It's a bean bag shooter. If he figures a way to impliment gun powder he could change it into a potato gun.

I wanted to use gun powder and i asked but the teacher doesn't allow it for the reason being, we will shoot them inside the college gym on the wooden floors and it might be a bit too loud and dangerous

I blew up a garbage bag filled with acetylene one day while bored in a shop I was working in. Made the service manager almost mess himself and I lost my eyebrows during the incident, BUt it was awsome to see the shop windows propel out of the garage doors.

Chalk it up to "I'm bored hey Dude watch this!!"

potato cannons dont need gun powder. i've seen a couple used with propane.... funny story, we were shootin our cannon one night, and it stopped workin, so my friend pulled the end cap off the gas chamber, and was llooking down into clicking the ignitor to see if it was sparking, all of a sudden *boom* it ignited a pretty good sized flash engulefed his head, but was too quick to catch anything on fire. but he lost his eye brows and his bangs were singed pretty good. at the time it was HILARIOUS, lookin back was pretty dangerous. turns out we just flooded the chamber with too much hair spray, by pulling the cap off the fuel-to-air mixutre got good enough to ignite and man did it ever ignite. lol. later that night i got hit inthe head with one of the balls from a roman candle. thought my head was on fire. lol

but back to topic of engineering. i really miss my HS, it was a pspcialized HS based on engineering, we did all sorts of cool stuff like triple is doin here

but with one thats not sideways you'll must likely get a decent amount of energy behind that potato.

we found out just how dangerous these things are when we shot a stucco house..... then ran for our lives

This has plenty of power it puts holes threw a thick wood shed.If you use right gaurd it burns like 95% so you get a really good amount of power and there is no residue left over.
