New proud jeep owner

Just bought a 2014 sport s unlimited. Its white with a black freedom top. I also got the 3.73 with a 6 speed transmission. I don't know if I should have posted this in this section of the forum i'm just so excited. I only have 110 miles on it so far. I still haven't opened the owners manual but whats the best way to break in the motor?

You finally took the plunge John! Congratulations! Pics or it didn't happen. So excited for you!

From that User Manual you haven't opened yet on break-in:

Quote:
ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS
• A long break-in period is not required for the engine and drivetrain (transmission
and axle) in your vehicle.
• Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles
(100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.
• While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the limits of local traffic laws
contributes to a good break-in. Wide-open throttle acceleration in low gear can be
detrimental and should be avoided.
• The engine oil installed in the engine at the factory is a high-quality energy
conserving type lubricant. Oil changes should be consistent with anticipated
climate conditions under which vehicle operations will occur. For the recommended
viscosity and quality grades, refer to “Maintaining Your Vehicle”.
NOTE:
A new engine may consume some oil during its first few thousand miles (kilometers)
of operation. This should be considered a normal part of the break-in and not
interpreted as an indication to an engine problem or malfunction.

Do you mean to post a pic in a post or as your avatar (ie show up under your name at the left where my "Jeep won a war" thing is now every time you post)?

To put a pic in a post, go to "post reply" and click the paperclip looking thing above the box where you type. Click "Choose File" and point it to where on your computer/phone/tablet the pic is.

If your pic is internet hosted (mine arent so I am going on how these icons generally work), you can use the "Quick Reply" icons that look like an earth with a paper clip (link) or a mountain picture (image) - and just point them where your pic is (ie if you find something cool on the internet or host your pics like on photobucket or someplace online as opposed to just on your computer).

I am far from an expert but I manage to get pics so I must be doing something right lol!

For an avatar, go to User CP up from top left of the forum page and there is a menu on the left side. Find the one that says "Edit Avatar" and follow upload directions.

Clear as mud?

On the JK/TJ thing, wait for someone more mechanical minded to come along. I know they are different body styles - that is all those letters mean. (JK is the current body style). If you want more specific differences like engines or whatever, not 100% sure.

TJ is 97-06 and JK 07-current year. There are hundreds of mechanical differences between the two types of wranglers.
