New shocks?

So i was out today climbing up a some tougher stuff and my spotter said that my tire was getting into my fender flare. The general conclusion was that i need some new shocks.

Im taking all recommendations for new shocks. Also, what else should i/need to get when purchasing new shocks.

Maybe I'm slow but I don't know why you need new shocks. Shocks help keep the tire in contact with the ground not much else.

"Your tire getting into your flare" means that you have larger than stock tires an no lift correct? When the tire travels upward its hitting the flare or the fender its self. If this is the case then you need a small lift.

Then again maybe I'm completely wrong and misunderstand what you are saying.

You dont need shocks like Mortal said . If you are rubing at full flex then you need longer bump stops .

Agreed.

Makes me concerned that the GROUP came up with the 'you need new shocks' solution.

Have they advised you on anything else?

I run 31" tires with no lift.

What is a bump stop?

Also the reasoning behind the needing new shocks was that my ride is "gooey." Part of that being the shocks were not stiff enough to keep my tires out of my body. i cant say i disagree with the sentiment about the ride because ive driven other jeeps recently and they felt much stiffer but that was also on pavement.

As far as the group...and their "concensus..." why do you think I came here afterwards? :smiley: i havent already bought new rubion express shocks or anything.

In simple terms they will stop your tires from hitting the fenders .You got one in each coil sitting in cups . I would watch going with a stiff shock if you use your jeep as a DD you wont like filling every bump in the road

It simply limits the axle from moveinf up only soo much.
