First, I wanted to say what a great group of people you all are! I own a couple sports cars and been around the block, but I've never seen a friendlier forum. All forums say no or limited flaming, but here its nil. :thumb:
Being new to Jeeps, I had a bunch of questions and each one was answered even tho its prolly been asked a few times a day since the earth formed Jeep terrain. Anyway, just wanted to thank everyone for all the help now and if the future.
And the new toy. From a forum member, I purchased a '06 Rubi Unlimited. Flew down and drove it home. It was a 11 hour drive from perfect hot sun, to a temperamental thunderstorm and I couldn't have been happier! She performed flawlessly. Def happy with highway mpg, eyebrow raising stop n go mpg, but that will get better as I learn to relax, its a Jeep (i'm used to a twin turbo sports car that loves to GO, lol, so I was prolly a bit heavy on the pedal).
Gotta get used to a few things, like how wide she is/isn't. I found myself still riding closer to the left hand side of the lane and would look at the mirror and see all the room on the right hand side. The side mirror blind spots will take some getting used to, or just look over my shoulders more.
The radio! Holy moly, ever vehicle NEEDS a sound bar! WOW!
Shes bone stock, but part of the sale included a 3" Zone suspension lift with gas shocks and stabilizer. I've heard a 1" body lift would be good to do at the same time? Thoughts? She still has the OEM 31s with good tread that will be replaced with 33s later.
One thing I found odd and not a fan of is the climate control. I get it, its not a luxury sedan, but the limited settings and not being able to control the A/C (like the button to keep it off/on in any position). And the factory fog lights seem weak.
With the gearing, do most people just start from a stop (on pavement) in 2nd gear? 1st seems so short...
Anyway, thanks again for being a great bunch of folks. Can't wait to really get in here and absorb more knowledge of these amazing vehicles! And yes, she will be going off road, tho not making a climber out of her.
