New with a buying question.

So I need some help. It has been a dream of mine to own a jeep. My wife told me that as soon as my current cars trade in value would equal what I owe I could get one. Fast orward a few months and we find out we are pregnant.

So here is my dilemma.
I have roughly 2 options....
Option 1) 2009 jeep wrangler Sahara. Automatic, black, 29k miles, 2 door, 4wd. For 325 a month.

Option 2) 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited. Automatic, silver, 61k miles, 4 door, NO 4wd...
For 325 a month.

My questions... Is the unlimited 4 door that much better for a car seat? No 4wd on the 4 door??? Tuff choice... Need some opinions.... HELP!

It depends where you live to me. I bought my first jee a week ago and I wanted a 2 door. After being Amin for the past 18 years and having 4 door cars I can't imagine getting a 2 door and muscling in a car seat for the next 7 years....

BUT with that said will your wife have the "family" car and yours be used on occasion?

I guess if you had a "family" car that is easy access, or if you live in the mountains like me and have huge snow storms then the 2 door all the way...

Just think hard... About 7 years of getting that seat in and out .... The baby starts light and gets heavy....

If you want to put a child in a Jeep, forget the 2 door. If you want a Jeep that's not 4wd, well? Just wait awhile.

i'd never even consider a wrangler without 4wd...

that being said, i also wouldnt get a 4 door wrangler and if i was getting anything jeep with 4 doors, it would be a nice grand cherokee. I dont think wranglers are good family cars. They're terrible on gas, not the greatest ride (even the jk's), and are big with 4 doors.

I think you should get a nice family vehicle and then 16 years down the road get yourself a jeep and will your car down to your son/daughter...

that being said, you probably wont go that route so i'd go for option 1 simply because a wrangler without 4wd is like wiping before you poop, just doesnt make sense.

I don't know dude , I have driven the new 4 doors and it drives like you're in your living room and makes child's play of most terrain. I have an 04 TJ and wouldn't give it up but those 4 doors for an outdoor loving family can't be beat.

Yeah, i know they're still very capable for an offroader but i was just speaking from my own personal preference.

If i had a family, i wouldnt be doing much offroading due to the lack of mods and the risk of breakage...so, the trails i'd do would be easily done by a grand cherokee.

That said, its just my own personal preference...so i added my vote for option one due to the no 4wd on option 2

I have 2 kids and a four door 2013 Sahara 4wd that i bought brand new as my DD. traded in my Ford Fusion and sold my 1953 M-38A1 because it wasnt family friendly Sometimes wish I got a Rubi when I'm at Rausch Creek but when I'm driving 65 miles a day, I'm glad I got a Sahara. Rides great, gas mileage is acceptable - Around 18mpg and the wife and kids love riding with top down and doors off every chance we get. My $0.02 is to get a 4wd 4door. Just remember the price you pay for a Jeep is just the down payment on the upgrade parts you will in inevitably buy.
