Newbie wheel question

Hello All
I'm new to the jeep forum here but not new to jeeps. I used to own an 85 CJ that I did up with all the gear and now my wife has a 02 basic wrangler that I have kind of adopted. The jeep has always been a second car or even third car so it has low miles at only 27,000 but the tires are very dry rotted and I am in need of new ones. I don't like the stock rims, steel with a plastic JEEP center cap, but I do like the alloy or aluminum 5 spoke stock rims that I see on so many jeeps. My question is: I have been watching craigslist and such for used ones but how do I know if the lugs will fit? There are some great deals on like new stock tires and wheel sets from 07-09 jeeps but will they fit my 02? I like the 15" size like I have but can I go to 16 or
17"? Would wheels from a cherokee fit?
Seems like there should be a chart somewhere and if there is I bet you guys could point me to it. Times are tough like it is for so many folks and I need to keep the price down so that is why I'm looking at preowned.
Thank you

The '02 TJ's uses 5on4.5 bolt pattern same as the cherokee and YJ. The new Jeep JK '07 to present changed to 5on5. Any diameter rim will work as long as it's 5on4.5!

Correct me if I am wrong here, I'm trying to get an education, but any stock Jeep rim will fit my 02 wrangler as long as it has the 5on 4.5 bolt pattern which was used on jeeps prior to 2007. I think some of those stock wheels may have been 16" or even 17" which should not cause a problem with clearance or back spacing since I would be considering "stock" rims.
It is good to know that the grand cherokee rims from 93-98 would work as well.
Thanks guys I knew i would get some answers here.
If anyone else has any info chime in.

No they will be 15s stock rims
The 16s would have a differant bolt pattern

Most people will get bigger tires than stock
down the line
Then its a good idea to buy new rims
craiger soft 8s are like $50 each
then you can change your backspace
on your rims so your tires wont stick out
or rub

"locked and loaded"
