No Interior?

Went and looked around the car lots this weekend, found a nice '03, auto, not really my color of choice, but the price was pretty nice. Noticed a few things that were odd to me, 1. No Radio, looks like it had an aftermarket, and someone pulled it when they sold it, which is fine, I have an extra at the house. the one that got to me was - 2. There was no interior flooring(all the floor pans are showing). Would this just be because someone wheeled it hard, submerged and toasted the interior, so pulled it out?

that second part kind of scared me away from it.

It could be that, or it could just be that they thought it would look tough if they ripped out the carpet. I would be leary of it if they took out the stereo, there's no telling what else they may have added that they took back off as well.

The carpet was just removed it sounds like, easy fix. It comes right out, and is held down with a couple plastic fasteners.

I want to tear out the carpet in my 07, just so it doesnt get moldy/stinky if it gets wet. I prefer to have the top down, but we get sporadic showers. I think it would be easier to keep clean too. Dog hair gets trapped in carpet and is a <choose your expletive> to get out.

I wouldnt steer clear of it just due to the lack of carpet. If you want to know if it was wheeled hard, check under the jeep for deep scratches, gouges, & pockets of mud that most people never clean out.

so this isn't as big a deal, as I think then I guess. I guess I'll have to get back down there and look at it again. I was just taken back by it, not something I'm used to seeing.

It seems that it is relatively common to pull the carpet out of a Jeep. I have seen it with my friends that have wranglers in this area, but usually they plan on having it Rhino Lined. Sometimes they find that the cost is a lot more than they expected, but they already junked the carpet. I have thought about getting my tub Rhino Lined or a similar product, but my carpet still looks decent so I am waiting.

I wouldn't NOT look at the jeep just because of those two aspects but it would raise some flags for me to take a harder look. Regardless, go with your gut feeling.

maybe they were smokers? when I was a smoker, no matter how careful I was I'd always have cig burns on the floor after just a few months. Replacement carpet is around $80... at least thats what it was last time I checked.

If you like the jeep then arrange with the owner to take the jeep to a trusted mechanic to have them check everything out.

Crawl underneath it and look for water lines, mud, scratches to indicate if it was offroad hard.

I wouldn't buy one that was beat on, but the carpet wouldn't be a big deal
