Not sure if I'll get blasted, but here goes...

When I first bought my Jeep I signed up for all the forums I could find. I ended up only using this one. How many of you use the other forums? Is there any benefit from using all of them or do most of them have all the same people as members?

I do the same for forums as I do with anything I buy.

I research and determine what is the best and join that one.

I belong to a number of them as I'm sure many do. But, I'm also certain there are a fair number of members, like you, who choose to belong to only one which is the reason that if I need answers, I'll post in all to get as many viewpoints as possible. Overkill? Maybe. But I'm retired and have the time to spend in the forums that interest me.

I belong to many, but this is the only one I post on. On the others I only lurk as I don't want to get dragged into a flame war.

I belong to a few, but this one seems to be the one that suits my needs the most.

I like an informative site that is helpful AND fun.
That's not so easy to find, but I seem to have found it here.

No blasting from me, it's a good question.
  • Wrangler Forum is my #1 forum, IMO it's the best all-around forum.
  • The vast majority of my Jeep friends prefer JK Owner's so I use that for local information.
  • For anything on my Willys, there is no better place for info on WWII Jeeps than G503.com

It's a big world and an even bigger internet. IMO, someone that restricts themselves to just one source for information may be losing out.

Thanks beast, I was actually thinking of using the others mainly to find people in my area. I used the local forum here and didn't see many in my area. Hopefully I can find some people to ride with in JKOwners.

It isn't like there is a rule that you can only be a member to one forum.

I spend 90% of my time on this forum...but I do check out JK-Owners from time to time. Also, because I had a Liberty before this Wrangler, I'm a long time member of Jeepforum.

I have read plenty of articles where the 2dr 4dr, 6cyl, etc etc gets out of hand. If I wanted to be a memeber of them I would. I just thought some of them might have a following and I would have to hear about mentioning them. Like how I seem to be one of the few Harley riders that will ride with or wave to anyone.

Im a member of a few others but I have less than 50 posts on the rest of them... This is the only forum I am a supporting member of as well. I really like it here. Laid back, full of knowledge and you can ask questions and get real answers from people who actually want to help instead of just bash certain parts, newbies or people who want to do something out of the norm with a Jeep. Great place to be. Some extreme mods I will venture out for but most stuff I can find here just fine...

I'm a member of Expedition Portal dot com.

It's dedicated overlanding site. It has a Jeep section, among many other awesome ones, and it has state/region specific forums to meet travel friends.

Check it out they are awesome.

Other then that this is the only Jeep forum I go to.

I had used jeepsunlimited when I had my TJ. I cut my Jeep forum teeth over there. When I thought about buying the JK I found most JK owners were elsewhere. I found wranglerforum just a few weeks before buying and I'm glad I did. Pat at Field's and the solid amount of cut and dry facts about different years and options was what I needed to decide what to buy.

I also like how accepting and open this forum is. If you have a tip, or photo, or a video from another site, you can post it to help people here. From those just looking at Jeeps, to those that have owned then forever, there's a spot where everyone can fit in and hang on this forum. I don't get online to get into flame wars or spam, people here may disagree, but it doesn't become a mess (and when it does, the mods are there).

Great topic actually

Obviously I spend most of my time here. If there's info I can't find, I venture out. JK freaks would be 2nd home. JKO can be harsh on the new guy though, and there's a lot of drama w/ people that live in off topic. really no rules so these guys post anything and not related to jeeps which gets annoying, Good tech, if you can dig through all the other crap. Then there's Jk forum. Even mix of tech/look at me. Overall a decent forum since the buy. Those are my picks but WF is my home. I always found this place easy on the new guy. All I would like, is more tech discussion. Seams to be getting better with the new layout.

Another thing I noticed WF gets the most traffic. This is not always a good thing depending if your question gets answered of not.
You can go to most other forums and click "recent post" there's new post that sit there for weeks. Wf is constantly refreshing with new post and a ton of people joining each day,

This is really the only forum I haunt anymore. If I'm looking for something specific, and I can't find it using our wonderful "Search" function, I'll venture out to JF or some such (or google more often than not). As stated above, I'm here because of the atmosphere and the knowledge-base. You can find great info on here, people asking questions don't get flamed, and folks are quite willing to share info and opinions. That's why I'm a Supporting Member here and nowhere else.

Aside from one particular member, this is a civil and well run board. There is lots of help for the new folks and the obscure technical questions get answered as well. When I have a State specific need, I'll venture over to a State specific site for answers.

I am also a member of Jeep Forum and find that there seems to be more full on custom builds there and some very knowledgeable guys. WF is where I spend most of my time though, I've been here since 2005. The only place I go on JF is the builds section, couldn't even tell you what other sections they have. Pirate is a wealth of information, but also a wealth of BS. A lot of my searches lead me there.

I like this forum a lot but I think the jk-forum is a bit better for technical stuff. I know I have gotten better vendor discounts over there wayalife is also good for technical stuff if you can get someone's attention and they are brutal if you disagree with the owner in anyway lol. I found some other decent forums but most don't get enough traffic and someone can ask a question and a week later still have no responses ie AEV forum.

I've checked out Pirate a few times, but damn. Is there a rule that you have to be the most obnoxious d-bag in your side of the state in order to join? I like a good back and forth and disagreements, but to just go out of your way to be rude and insulting to newer members or those with legit questions seems too much.

Yea, with Pirate you gotta pick and choose what to ignore, but the "Classifieds" section is awesome!

Brutal is an understatement on wayalife. I was trying to get specifics to their claims about the TF carrier being dangerous; their claim is the only one I have found. I saw all the carnage on threads but still did it. Regardless of the topic it's just flat out shocking the way they talk to people.

I'm a member on maybe a dozen Jeep and 4x4 forums. I tend to like this one because it's a bit more relaxed. I've been around the block a couple of times so I like to chip in when I can help in a thread. I will say that some of the more hardcore tech is better in other forums but along with that comes a lot less tolerance for newbs and a lot more attitude in general. So I don't hang out on those forums as much. Well, that and I'm not doing much in the way of hardcore tech on my JK yet.

Though when it comes to my truck and my CJ, there are other forums focused on those older Jeeps that are friendly like this one. However, the tech is oriented towards the old school Jeeps a lot more which is what I need.

I belong to two Jeep, a Rhino, Polaris Ranger, RZR, and a Can Am Forum.
They are all different, but have one thing in common, and that's having fun off road!

All of these Forums that I belong to are great!
Most of them have the same rules, but the enforcement of same, varies significantly.
It's easy to spot a Moderator, that just wants to demonstrate His, or Her power, verses one that wants to keep order, but in doing so, also becomes very helpful! A classic example, in my opinion, is Kjeeper10. Just a great guy, that is, always trying to be helpful by sharing his knowledge with others!

Unfortunately every Forum has both, but that's the real world that we live in........

I belong to three Jeep forums. This one seems to have the most newb's, and most questions are the "what is your favorite color" type of question. JKOwners has the most technical information. JK-Forum is the most censored and restricted, if you don't agree with the owner/moderator.
