I wasn't paying enough attention and had to stomp on my brakes this morning. I stopped before I hit anything and I stayed in my lane. I did spill a tiny bit of my coffee.
Spilling my coffee would have sent me into a tizzy.
I was on my way to work today and took the regular route. The jeep was its perky self, I waved to several jeep owners and got waved back to. Nothing bad happened.
I had to drive the school van and I kept beginning to try and do the jeep wave but then remembered that...sweet jesus...I'm not in my jeep. :zap:
I have 35" tires with stock front dana 30 drive shaft with 16500 miles and I havent regeared yet. Oh almost forgot nothing bad happened during the morning interstate commute.
I own an '09 4 door Unlimited that I purchased last summer. I did have some initial trouble with it - "started the popping out of gear thread" thinking that I was the only one. After the replacement of the transmission (WARRANTY), my jeep has been a joy.
I was commenting on a seperate thread yesterday how fun it is to get out and drive in the snow etc. and that I feel like a kid with a new toy - even 7 months later. I have also noted that there is a sense of security in knowing that not only can you go anywhere you wish - but you can get back safely as well.
Well I have about 1k on my 2010 and nothing yet. Did have to slam on my brakes as a co-worker slammed on theirs in front of me. Don't think you could have slipped a piece of paper between our cars but no contact. Extremely impressed by the stopping power given the vehicle.
Oh and two other things. I hear about this Jeep wave but no one waves back to me down here Is that just a South Florida thing? Also I have driven a lot of automatics in my time (and a lot of manuals but got this in auto becuase of the wife) but I've never been in an automatic that I can feel shifting to the degree I feel in the Jeep. Is that normal?
It seems to be normal in Chrysler products. My caravan and PT Cruiser both shift hard at times. I got used to it. Can't speak for the jeep as it is a standard....sometimes I shift it hard :banghead:.
Keep waving, Anthony. If they don't wave back, chase them, knock them to the ground, and stand on their throat until they wave to you.
It's okay; they deserve it. :wavey:
Hard shifting? It's over 4000 pounds and has to have shiftpoints flexible enough for either trails or highway.
Not a problem, more of a quirk. Like Cindy Crawford's mole.
Not a damn thing is wrong with my '09 2dr manual soft top. The other day I thought I had an air leak at my header. When I stopped I took a look and there was a big chunk of ice there. As soon as I removed it there was no more leak. Can you believe that crap? Furthermore I'm going to have to take it back to those ba$tard$ at the dealership I bought it from just to use the free oil change coupon they sent me.
I absolutely love my Jeep. I have been waiting for the tranny' to crap itself....nothing. I have been waiting for the transfer case to go out.....nothing. So I'm thinkin' maybe' it just may be a really reliable vehicle that takes me on some fantastic adventures? Oh & so nothing bad happened today, it just purred like a kitten as usual
Sounds like you are developing confidence in your jeep. If you go wheeling, it is worth a two dollar investment for a few replacement plastic bushings for the transfer case linkage that fit easily in the bottom of the glove box. If you break one or any of your fellow jeepers break one, they will be eternally grateful when you produce a replacement.
I drove my jeep home from work last night and out on errands. Tossed it into 4wd low just to prove it can be done without breaking the little plastic bushing and nothing happened. It worked perfectly.
Not only did nothing bad happen, something REALLY good happened, I picked up my '10 2dr 6 spd hardtop Rubi today. Boy, does Flame Red ever define the color RED!
I guess there is one bad thing....all the good trails in the high country of Colorado are too snowed in for me to go out and give it a go!
Headed out with the Wife today, for a quick run to a neighboring town about 15 miles away.
On the return trip, we took a longer 25 mile route back, for no reason other than to Drive my Jeep! We just needed to get out of the house! We'd been holed up at home the past two days with rain. Roads were pretty Sloppery! Thought I was going to get some more Sea Time, and have to weigh anchor and throw a sheet to the wind, just in case the water rose too much!
About 10 miles from home, we encountered an "S" Curve, that can be safely taken at 45mph. We took it at 40mph and ..... nothing happened.
Would you believe we got some rain in southern AZ, and a little snow in the higher elevations.
Took the JK out, JUST TO GET IT DIRTY!!!
And thank you, it was marvelous, and nothing bad happened!
We took it out and played with it last night in the snow. I looked in the garage and there are puddles under it this morning.
It was either crying last night because I made it come in out of the snow or they are just snow-melt puddles and nothing happened.
Again.
So last Saturday I left the gym and went to Dunkin' Donuts. I bought 2 large coffees and 2 egg and cheese on bagels. I put the 2 coffees on the drivers side floor in a coffee tray and put the bagel sandwiches on the passenger seat. When I was almost home a neighbor backed out of his driveway without looking. I hit my horn and slammed on my brake and screemed out something I probably shouldn't have. Oh yes, the bagel sandwiches slid off the seat hit the two cups of coffee and knocked them over. I forget to say they had cream in them. You can just picture the mess.
This morning I went to the gym and to Dunkin' Donuts again but nothing happened on my way home.
I actually needed 4WD to get home from work yesterday. It was snowing like a bastige so I took the scenic route, dirt roads, horse and tree farms.
Stopped to watch some Canadian geese frolic in the snow.
And, all of a sudden, nothing bad happened.
Two foot of snow on ground now for over a week. More coming on Monday. Dug out daughters car and my co. van. Tried to pull them out of the driveway, nothing happened! Both still setting. Didn't bother digging the jeep out, put it in four high and plowed my way out. At least the wife will make it to work.
Well, yesterday I had to go pull a co-worker's 4runner out of a snow bank, backed up close, threw on a towstrap, dropped into 4wheel low, gave it a touch of gas and crept forward pulling my co-worker free. My co-worker then followed me back to work, and nothing happened.
I drove back to the apartment from the house this morning at six without having slept any with a mild hangover, in the snow, with one eye open, and sunglasses on. Nothing bad happened. It was great!
On a side note, ordered my Rock Krawler lift bits yesterday, and I can afford it- I consider that a nothing bad happened kinda day Mark W.
I went skiing in Vermont this week. The poor jeep set dejected and wanting in the parking lot while my son's troop from WMA enjoyed a week of skiing. I got back in and drove home and nothing bad happened. We had a lot of fun though...
I got up this morning and it was blowing snow all over the place. Told the wife to not bother making my lunch I needed to go right away. So I went. Only the second time I've been able to "really" use the 4WD. Wohoo! Nothing bad happened except for the poor lil' Honda that tried to keep up. I think he' spun out behind me which is better than in front of me right?
Dang "change oil" light came on again today; seems like this happens at predetermined intervals or something....
And while driving to work this morning, a pickup truck in front of me was meandering all over his lane and then made a panic stop halfway in our lane and the oncoming lane; so I swerved off the road and Baja'd around him.
Net result, nothing bad happened today.
