Off Road Essentials

I found a lot of good information regarding emergency preparedness while off-roading in remote locations in this thread Being Prepared for Emergencies While in the Backcountry

However, I was wondering if there's a basic list of all items (medical supplies, food/water, GPS, mechanical) that condenses EVERYTHING into one comprehensive list of what one should pack in at a bare minimum. I guess kind of like a ten essentials list for off-roading.

If someone has a resource or could point me in the right direction, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best resource would likely be to ask other jeepers

Sorta like... What's in your "gear box"?

In the JK, I got:
MRE's (Army food...)
bottled water
3 kid tents
granola bars
3 maglights
pair o binos

In the DJ, I got
two straps (stretchy/not both 35K-ish)
20' chain
d rings
a tarp
12V tire inflator
2 quarts of oil
quart of tranny fluid
pint of brake fluid

Totally different priorities for each my DJ WILL get stuck and WILL break, whereas my JK WILL have kids in it...

'71 DJ-5 (that isn't a typo)
'10 JKU Sport RHD

RHD... it's a jeep thing

Ya there are definitely things that should be kept in the back all the time, especially when going wheeling.

I have a big pelican case I keep this stuff in:

Tow straps, ratchet straps
Flashlights (Surefires, & extra batteries)
Food, water
Bowie knife
Bushnell Backtrack (GPS/Compass)
.40 Glock & ammo
Emergency battery charger
Small Blanket
Couple of emergency ponchos
ZIP TIES and DUCT TAPE!! (life savers)
Spare oil

And attached somewhere on the jeep:
Hi-lift jack
10k lb winch
More tow straps
Full size spare tire
5 gallon Jerry cans (gas and water)

1990 YJ- 6" Lift, 35" Baja Claws, 4.56, Cam, etc
1993 Wrangler- Dead
2006 Mustang- Cammed, Slammed, And fully bolted
