We're all Jeep family, and hey, maybe if we all get waving to absolutely every type of Jeep it will get those "soccer mom's in JKU's" or "mall crawler stock Jeeps" to get on the waving bandwagon! I know I sure do wave every time regardless!

I love this idea Honestly though, I didn't even know about the Jeep wave until I started shopping for a Jeep last year. The salesperson at the one dealership I went to looking at a used Jeep told me about it. I thought he was kidding, lol. I ended up buying a new Jeep from a different dealer & was so excited when I got my first wave And yes, I did wave back & wave all the time now, except sometimes I wanna give them the finger when they don't wave back

had an interesting experience regarding encountering another vehicle on the road of the same make...

My Jeep was in the shop for a check engine light issue, dont even get me started on that, but in the mean time i had a rental dodge ram 1500. a big ass truck, so i thought.

Driving down the highway, another ram drives up next to me, slightly bigger, and looks at me like im driving a friggen power wheels. I got home and talked to my roommate, who used to drive a ram, and he was like yea, that doesnt surprise me...

As for us Jeepers, i dont care if you look like a princess driving a barbie Jeep or you look like kenny friggen powers driving a monster truck, if you're in a Wrangler, you're gettin' a wave, because chances are extremely high that you're a kickass person. #itsajeepthing

whew...rant ended

This is my second Jeep, but my wife rarely rode in my YJ. I've always done the wave.

Got my new JKU a few months ago, which my wife and son often ride with me (we no longer take her car when we go out and about). Going to the grocery store, she and I are having a conversation as I pull into the parking lot and a JKUR is leaving. I wave and he waves. She stops mid-sentence, turns to me and says "what, is that some sort of a Jeep thing?"

"Yes. Yes it is."

There's 98-ish pages and I'm sure this is on one of them. There needs a group email to every dealership (mom & pop or big name) to tell buyers of jeeps to wave at other jeeps. If you buy your kid a jeep, tell them about the wave. I have only had my jeep for a few months but knew about the wave long before getting it. If a person in a jeep waves to you, you wave back.

I take it personally when a shiny new JK ignores my wave. Maybe Chrysler will be more willing to market the Jeep Wave if they thought it would sell vehicles. That's what Honda motorcycles did in the 80s with their, "you meet the nicest people riding a Honda" commercials.

Not to get on the JK owners, but none of them seem to wave. CJ/YJ/TJ owners do but not as often as I remember them several years ago...so sad!

I had a high percentage wavy thing going on this weekend. Almost all that I passed waved. I even got the wife doing it. She caught me missing a wave so she waved for me.

I get more waves back from people driving Rubi's more than anything. And if it's lifted or has bigger tires, also the odds are high that I get a wave.

Not as many YJ's on the road around here, but the few that I see, always get a wave.

I almost cried (I am such a girl) when we bought the Liberty in 05 and I realized I wasn't in a "real" jeep and no longer was part of the jeep waving crowd. I was so excited driving my "new" TJ. Have only had a couple of waves...but feel renewed after hitting a trail yesterday in our rzr and dirt bikes...all the jeeps (ok and 2 toyotas and a land rover) waved. Maybe it was the cute little kids on dirt bikes...

We have a ton of YJ's on the road up in Northern Nevada and Tahoe. Lots of CJs too...definitely lots of JK's! It seems like everywhere you turn there's a Jeep!

I would agree that I get more wave-backs from jeeps that are modded or that they wave first. Working in a college town, there seems to be a lot of daddy bought jeeps and they just don't know. And yes, they are mostly JKs.

I certainly don't doubt what you're saying, but, if they are new owners, of courses they are going to be in JK's. That's the current model. I drive a JK and wave all the time, but I also owned Jeeps in the 70's and 80's so I know what the Jeep wave is all about. We need more Jeep education. A waving guide should be included in every manual.

I bet if enough of us on the Jeep boards requested that Chrysler include a Jeep wavey ad in their marketing campaign they would do it. Few if any read the owners manual...many watch TV.

Driving home tonight, didn't quite outrun a rain storm. The Sunrider bonnet part was open and windows down. I'm in a suit. Stayed rather dry while moving(okay, for the most part). Stopping, is a different issue. At a light there's another Wrangler kitty corner, and he's got the full top off. Jeeps and drivers are wash, wear and wave!

How come we tend to have more smiles on our commutes, regardless of the weather?

I agree..I travel quite a bit and work from home when not traveling. I have put 7500 miles on my Jeep in 6 months because sometimes I just want to get out and drive it. I would say 4500 miles are just go out and have fun miles..the rest would be to and from the airport. It is the most fun you can have on 4 wheels.

I agree! I drove the YJ all day on Friday for work. The sun was shining, I was wearing a suit. No doors, just the bikini top to cut some wind. I love all the smiles I get from jealous cages.

Withdrawal Syndrome

We never travel without the Jeep... until this trip. We live in Nevada, but have a family reunion thing in Minnesota. I also have an appointment in Denver on the way, so we decided to leave the JK at home (we usually tow it along with us) and just use the motorhome this trip since there will be no time for 4 wheeling or other fun.

You just have to know that the Jeeps that I wave to from the RV must be wondering what is wrong with me. Here I am driving across Colorado... here a Jeep, there a Jeep, everywhere a Jeep, and me with no Jeep.

Good thing I'll be back in Colorado next month WITH my Jeep so I can try and break my arm wavin' at all the Jeeps.

Been Jeep wavin' over 40 years.

I like the looks (and occasional waves ) from the Jeepers when I wave from my RV. Im sure they understand when they c the Jeep in tow.

Most unfriendly jeepers

I think I live in the most self absorbed, unfriendliest, location in America. I have been counting the amount of times I wave at other jeepers and how often they wave back. From others with JKs i get maybe one back a month, from all others i have gotten about 3. Only one guy in a CJ waved to me first this month. I pass about 7-8 Jeeps each way to work, 12 miles, through city. Going with my calculations, 7x2x30= 420, 420/5=0.0119. I receive a wave about 1.2% of the time. I live in St. Petersburg, FL. I find this very sad. Anyone else with such poor responses?

Yea, here in the bay area. Just got here from central California coast, where everybody waved ( ok, 90% ), and now to uptight, stuck-up or just plain stupid jeep owners of San Francisco.

It's bad here in detroit metro too. Today I saw 8 jeeps and got 3 waves. I got a wave from 3 young teen age boys standing on the corner and a thumbs up from a guy in a new challenger. The ones that don't even look at you make you wonder if they even saw you but a week ago i had a guy pass me making a left turn driving my jeeps twin with out the mods and he looked right at me with my hand up and glared at me and kept going. With out a wave so mine quickly become the bird!

I have been getting the same thing recently. My wave ratio in the Metro Detroit area isn't so good.

The sales guy where I bought my JKU told me about the wave, and I've been doing it to every other Wrangler I see.. I'm getting mixed results, but I'll be *dammed* if I'm not going to wave!

I wave at everyone I meet on the highway. It make no difference to me if they are driving a Jeep or not. It makes no difference if I am in my TJ, my F250 King ranch, or my wife's car.

But, I have noticed that most Jeep folks do wave when I am in my TJ. Where I live, most people wave anyway. It is amazing that people pay attention enough to see when a person even raises an index finger off the steering wheel.

Ok, so growing up in the rural south, I'm used to waving at everyone that I pass. When we bought our acreage, we "taught" all our neighbors to wave by relentlessly waving at everyone. Waving in town is new, but I understand the concept.

What I don't understand is what do I do for a side-creeper? At least twice now, I've had another Jeep seemingly go out of their way to catch up to the side of me. Do I turn to look and wave? Or, are they just being nosy and checking me out?
