I don't notice passengers, I notice jeeps. Your hubby could be Vin Diesel and I'd still shoot a wave. Most of the time I don't notice the driver till I'm already waving.

I was thinking the same thing, a jeep wave is usually initiated far before you can see who's driving (or at least it should be!).

Good to hear! I'd appreciate a wave whether he's in the car or not

I wave to regular jeepers driving down the road and I air-high five the several jeepers in my area that I know. It's really funny to see people's reaction when they see two men Driving In modded jeeps air-high fiving each other.

I must live in exception world, since I get more waves from the 4 door drivers than anyone else. I get it though, some days you're just not looking for Jeeps. Some days you have things on your mind. Some days you don't feel like waving. There are some days I wave to everyone, and some days I don't. I guess the days I don't wave I'm just spreading this stereotype that women JKU drivers don't wave!

I don't hold it against the other driver for waving. Hell, they should probably be paying more attention to the road ahead of them instead of making sure to wave at every Jeep coming in the opposite direction.

I told my fianc about the wave. She said it was stupid. At first... Now she will tell me to turn around and put someone into the wall for not waving. She is JEEP now.

When I adopted my girl into the family where she assumed her rightful name, Lego, within 24 hours by initiation of first mod and first mud....waves came regularly. I was elated, it was fun and I giggled like a school girl. I found my baby had been abused. The previous owner intentionally chose the "chrome" package, but I was not deterred by her scars. Little by little I took her in for a lil TLC, a bumper here, a winch there and so on. And she thanked me with performance on trails. The waves flowed Jeep after Jeep. As I got to know her I began to learn she was tough and ready to carry me through and beyond my fears. We played in the mud and ruts together. We climbed hills and knocked on trees. She gained battle wounds on her fender flares and her rear axle. But she rarely spoke up, she Jeeped on like a champ. At this point she recieved numerous waves, glares, stares and even photo ops in parking lots. Once an entire bar of people watched over her while I got some "me" time. She stood tall and we proudly waved. We learned the start and purpose of the wave and it gave her and me all the more reason to stick my arm far out the window and wave for those who came before us, knowing our life together wouldn't be had soldiers not returned home having the option of a Jeep or Harley. The waves were still returned. Lego and I discovered rocks. Well, really I was afraid, but she was boss and walked on em with spunk. I fell in love. Now I love me some mud but I knew Lego could do more. But those fenders got in her way. They made her call out to me uncomfortably. It was then I knew something had to be done. Fitted in the front and in the rear, bouncing on 37s...I had to give her room to play and flex. So, surprise Lego...xrc armor replaced those snapped in plastic flares and clearance was hers to play with. Now the waves dissipate. I mean drastically. Her chrome removed and beefed up ready to take rocks, ruts and mud...and the waves cease and dirty looks begin. Okay, not everyone crawls on rocks, that's fine. But don't dis the rig. Shes capable, plays hard, sings like an angel and purrs like a kitten. She loves all offroad buddies and respects all Jeeps that have come before and after. Frankly she's sad. Shes a social girl and loves to talk. The stockers won't wave, but she likes them too and carries no beef with them. Her elders give dirty looks but she just wants to learn from them. It seems only the Jeeps like her wave and she doesn't understand. I'm dissappointed in some within the Jeep community. Grocery getter...yes we buy groceries that's how we eat. Soccer mom...yes my kids enjoy her offroad and on...jeepers in training, what's wrong with that. Longer wheel base, so what, she keeps her feet on the ground a lil longer (or does she, refer back to rear axle damage, lol) mall crawler...shut ur mouth, she hates the mall, haha...she most def offroads every weekend and recovers buddies to boot. Wave because we have a secret some jusy don't understand. We itch to leave pavement, we search for the next obstacle, we save just to mod one more thing on that neverending list, bc we read each others stories, bc we spot each other, recover each other, bc at some point we've all been climbing that hill pleading that we make it, bc we've all put them in neutral and tried again, bc we spend hours cleaning off mud while planning the next ride, bc we say never again and then do it anyway. Wave if u have been hit by branches bc ud rather the top down, bc mud and rocks have hit ur face and u laughed, bc u broke something and smiled bc it only means that mod u wanted is now justified, wave bc you have had more tires in the air than on the ground. Just freaking wave and get over the differences. We all love our Jeeps. How boring if they all looked and performed the same. They are amazing rigs, unlike any other...just wave. Now...lets go play, get stuck, climb and flex. I bet everyone would be waving if stuck or broken at any Jeep on any level if help was needed.

Oh bologna, those JKU drivers can find a second to slip in a wave somewhere between updating fb, texting their bff, and touching up their eyeliner. No excuses!

Definitely always give the Jeep wave. 50/50 on whether I get a return wave in this area. Being from the South originally and having lived most of my life there it was near 100% return wave down there.

Yesterday took a ride with the wife... 70 miles and over a dozen jeeps later and not one!! All jk's. Don't know if that has anything to do with it but I was worked up.

I'd say I get either the Jeep wave or a response about 90% of the time.

I hear ya man...I've been tempted to just start ignoring JKs, but those of us with older Jeeps need to lead by example. It will sink in eventually.

I got a wave from a all stock jk the other day I was parking and did not have a free hand for a second so he stopped and waited for me to park just so he could wave. I gave him a nice spririt nod and went about my way. Also got a wave from a geo tracker lol

So from what i gather, no matter what you drive we are all frustrated at the lack of waves. I drive a JKU and I get some waves and many who don't. But what I'm reading that's far worse, folks knocking the new drivers who don't know better while those who do know better aren't waving. I can handle a stock JKU or JK not waving. They don't know, I giggle, they will google it eventually. What urks me is the ones who choose not to wave bc I have 4 doors and a longer wheelbase. From CJs to TJs, LJs to JKs...we are all complaining. Just wave. Stop knocking us moms in JKs. There are a lot of us who adopted our rigs, build em and run them hard. (Oh no I had kids, I musta killed over and died. I build kids and rigs,...I'd say that's talent, lol) Then there are some who just need a few times offroad with the more experienced to catch the itch. Forget which Jeep the other person is driving and wave. I'm having too much fun with my JKU to not share in a wave.

I'm a woman...I drive a Sahara...and I always wave. Not sure what you mean by "watered down" but I love my Jeep, and I love driving on AND off-road in it. It's usually the young guys with every mod you can think of that don't wave back to me - I'm assuming because they "think" that they and their Jeep are somehow superior to me and mine.

I threw a couple mods on the Jeep this week and took it out for the first time. New swing arm rear bumper, stinger bumper with a Warn winch. I was excited for some Jeep Wave time.

I thought I got skunked. I waved at 5 Jeeps, a JK, three TJs and a YJ, not a thing. One of the TJs nodded. Then on our way home a sweet JK shot me a huge shaka It made up for the non wavers.

In case anybody asks here a picture of the upgrades.

It's how I get waves. I just hang some bacon from my Jeep. Everyone follows me around and waves and wants to be friends!

That's awesome!!! My son is 6 and he keeps asking me why some Jeeps don't wave back. He's REALLY into the waving... My 3 year old daughter is all about the dirt roads and whoop-di dos! She laughs so hard that she can't breath

I have an '08 JK X 2-door. I just wave at every body and any body in a wrangler. It gets a little irritating when the act is not returned, but it's a tradition that I feel needs to be carried on. I like the thought that Im waving at the Jeep, no just the driver. I once got a wave after getting out of my Jeep in a parking lot, it's been my favorite ever. In case anyone feels the need to shun my JK, know that my wave always takes priority over updating my Facebook status, even when filled with groceries or my son's baseball equipment. Shun me as you will, I'll still wave.

Usually I get waves from all and every jeep I wave too in Michigan. Never had a problem with JKs either........until yesterday. I was at a stop light when a JK drive by, I waved thinking "yeah all jeeps wave" but I was wrong. He looked me straight in the eyes both hands on the wheel and did not budge.

Just thought I would share my "pleasant" experience with you guys

I'm also a woman. I drive a Sahara. I wave to ALL Jeeps, even when they are across four lanes of traffic and know they probably didn't see me. I've posted before about people's bias. JUST WAVE! Older ones set an example for newbs to get the hang of it!! Whoever thinks its women or Sahara's or JKUs, or stock, or whatever. Just need to stop whining cause its a bit of a piss off having fellow Jeepers knock exactly what I'm driving right now!! lol (rant).

Love both your opinions!
