Sure they aint JK's?

I guess it just depends on the area.

Took the wife and kids to Lake Arrowhead today. Saw over a dozen Wranglers from CJ to JKs. Only got 2 waves returned. On the positive side, we did get to see a large doe on the side of the trail we decided to go on.

Went to the beach today and saw at least 20 jeeps, half of those JK's. Not one wave from a JK but ALL other Jeepers waved back, even an XJ.

in defense of the JK guys, i think a lot of the new jk owners are under educated from the dealership. most salesmen are not nearly as interested in preserving the "jeep thing" and the jeep history as much as they are in selling a vehicle. plus, there were probably a lot of new tj owners that were in the same boat when they bought their brand new tj's 10+ years ago. whenever i am talking with another jeep owner that may be under educated, i explain the jeep wave to them.

I knew nothing of it when I bought mine. As I drove it off the lot the 1st Jeep that passed me waved, then the 2nd waved. I got the message.

i just ran out to get some propane and hot dogs and i saw several jeeps on the way. all of which waved. my favorite one was from an older gentleman in a JK w/ the top and doors off. we both did the "doorless" wave too!

we were down at the shore in connecticut over the weekend. about 50% waved and 50% no wave. Some just looked at us as if we were asses. But when we got to Niantic there was a 4dr jk at the red light with about 4 kids in the back yelling "jeep waves" going at as if there was no tomorrow. made it all worth it. we will just keep on waving because we have become jeepers i guess.

I always wave. Back in the old days with my CJ, they were returned almost all of the time. I notice now that more drivers are distracted by cell phones. One hand on the wheel and one on the cell leaves nothing to wave with. I had pretty much forgotten about the wave until I got my first wave during my test drive. My wife seems to think that only women driving jeeps wave back to me and that I am waving to them on purpose.

yesterday i washed the jeep at the car wash. then headed to dunkin dounuts for a coffee. as i go to the enterance there was a jeep passing on the road. i waved and the blond waved back. i go in get coffee and sit down. the blond came in and right up to me and asked how i knew her. and i said it was just a jeep wave and had to explain what it was about. she had no idea what so ever. so last night we (my wife and me) are on our way to dinner and there are two blonds in a jeep waving to an extreme. now all my wife wants to know. who were the two bimbos in the jeep. my respond just jeep waves.

A lot of people don't wave in Philadelphia, but there are some of the good guys that will start up conversations with you just because of your jeep and such.

I dunno, near Scranton/Wilkes-Barre PA where I am, almost every jeep will wave. But then, seeing a stock non-JK here is pretty rare. the JK's are starting to catch on a little...some of them just have jeeps because they think it's cool. I tend to keep my wave to wranglers and jacked XJ's, and unless they wave first the 4-door JK's don't get it.

I'm at one wave from a JK owner, and about 2 weeks since any other jeep has waved back.

I've been getting more and more.

I think it may make a difference I now start waving early and increase in intensity until they (often sheepishly) wave back. I think it makes a difference when you have 250lb, bald headed, bushy goteed, guy hanging half out the door/window waving at you like an idiot.

Here in Houston, there isnt many jeeps on the road. When I see a fellow jeeper, I do wave. Its kind of a respect thing. Or as a lot of people say, a club type thing. The only down side here is that new generation comes in and have no clue. No matter how jacked up or stock your jeep is. They just look at you like your crazy.

I wave at all jeeps , because everyones modified jeep was once a stock jeep and a stock jeep is still a jeep and better than any thing else (especially foregin s***) and I usually stick my arm outside the tub and gve them a good long wave.

AMEN
Jeep owner is a jeep owner, I nwave at EVERYTHING now... b4 i would only wave at wranglers and cjs but i was talking to my Wife who has an XJ and she said she feels left out and other XJ's wont wave at her... so I decided if its a jeep it gets a wave (except the compass that's a dodge caliber with a jeep badge)

A year ago I couldn't get a wave returned from a JK. Now they are waving back and at times even initiating. I'm 6 for 6 from JKs this week. Getting better all the time.

got a verry enthusiastic wave today from a TJ owner, older guy with his wife...

I started with the standard peace sign as I always do and got the "excited little kid wave" in return, so I, in turn, returned the "e.l.k. Wave"

FUN DAY, too bad it's gonna rain
