I got an out the window wave today! Of course, it was on an off road trail, so I'd expect nothing less. 😁👍

3 for 3 on the way home today. That NEVER happens. And one of them was actually on the highway from an old lady driving a stock TJ! That's gotta count for some extra points, right?

I wave or throw up a peace sign to all wranglers exept the newer 4 door styles. I did at first but never got a wave back so now i just ignore them. Anyone else find that to be common?

you're one of the rare ones. I honestly can't remember a single time in the past 2 years of my jeep ownership that I've gotten a wave from a 4 door haha

We have a lot of 4drs around here that wheel and are not that Modded or are like the Polar my wife drives and the rest of the "family" Jeeps are wheeled and know about the wave. You may be missing out on Jeeples by being a wave snob but that is your choice.

One member on here said it best, "if they don't wave it is not the Jeeps fault, I am waving in respect of the JEEP".

I'm in a 4dr with no mods. I wave at every Wrangler and have great reciprocation. I will continue to wave and any that don't wave will wave eventually. I have faith.

Spring is here!! I find with top off doors off weather on the way the wave increases. I think alot of people are in their own litl world with windows up and are oblivious to what's goin on. It's kinda hard not to wave back to someone hanging out the side of a jeep with a big ole peace sign in the air when doors are gone. If they don't wave back... Well... Just wait for the next one n try again!!!

CAN'T WAIT TO GET RID OF THESE DOORS!!!!!

I personally like the Ford Raptors. But that is funny that you got a random wave. Sometimes I catch myself waving to people when I'm driving a company vehicle or my wife's car.

I can't wait to take my doors off as well!! It's going to be my first summer with a jeep. We are in transition from moving to NC so we live in apartments for now. Its gated and nice area but I'm still a little nervous about leaving it over night with no top and doors. I know not to keep valuables in there either way but what about seat covers & floor mats?

Hmm never even thought about Floor mats or seat covers being stolen. Everyone has their own level of comfortability when it comes to leaving jeep wide open. I'm a little more care free than I should b probably but I leave my tools for work in mine( mostly hand tools but also some power like drill cir saw) alot of times I forget the radio in it and I park across the street from me rite on the rd. I'd say the chance of stuff getting stolen is 50%. Prob cheaper to replace the few things I leave in when wide open than having a widow broken or cut. If someone really wants something they can get it wide open or locked tight with an alarm
I gotta say if I was that worried about security I prob wouldn't own a jeep

My first summer too and I am chomping on the bit ready for spring to get here! I bought my JK in December so I haven't been able to experience just have the front tops off - let alone everything else.

I hate to rant but I'm done giving jeeper waves to JK drivers. If they wave first I will give them greetings and wave back. I have waved to many times at JK drives and get funny faces or nothing. I Feel like a ass just waving by myself. I'm a motorcycle rider also and 95 percent of riders greet each other with a hand wave or motions. Don't matter if you are riding a Harley or a crouch rocket. We all share the commond bond of motorcycle riders. I guess not with some jeep JK drivers. I'm not saying all JK drivers don't wave. My wife just laughs and thinks it funny im waiving to myself

Feel your pain.. It happens on a regular basis for me as well. I still feel the need to wave, even if it makes me look like an idiot.

Majority of the time the driver in the JK doesn't even notice that I wave, because they bought their JKU as their new mini-van...

Soccer moms don't understand the wave... Or the fact that they're in a jeep, not a mini van.

Just when I was getting ready to quit waving to any Jeeps in NYC, I got a return wave on the street in Brooklyn! Restored my faith that not everyone in NYC is clueless about the Wave

Hay I'm a JK owner and I wave to all wranglers
I still think it's part dealership failure by not educating newbie JK owners
And I to get odd looks "like who are you - I don't know you look"
I'm hopefully it will eventually catch on
Just wave

That's funny my wife teases me also. I passed about 20 wranglers the other day n finally got one wave n believe it or not it was a Jk. It was vary sad!! I'm gonna keep on waving tho maybe some more will catch on especially when doors come off for season n I'm hanging out the side with a big peace sign in the air. Gets harder not to wave back!!! Haha

Its funny because I drive a jku and I said to my wife that women in general hardly ever waive. No matter the generation of wrangler. But seems like a lot of tj drivers dont waive either. Maybe its a wrangler model thing? Hell I had a liberty give me the waive the other day :-)

yes, and "Jeep Wave Instructions" also need to be included in the Owner's Manual!

or, maybe on that yellow sticker on the sun visor? wait, disregard that idea, nobody ever reads that sticker.

Maybe the Liberty thought he had a DRESSED up Wrangler

I have about given up too, they are to buried in their A/C closed Boxes. Even the Jeeps in my own Neighborhood don't wave, maybe they have a different opinion of me

I do tend to wave to other Jeeps that look like their owners have modified them a bit or a lot, they always seem to wave back.

The soccer moms probably think this old fart is hitting on them. If they are cute, you can bet your A** I am LOL if only in my dreams.

As far as waving on my scooter, There are so many them in south Florida, Your arm gets tired, so unless they wave and ride something decent, I play the old biker guy who is to busy to wave back at their yuppy rides.

My dad thinks its funny to wave at wranglers from his GC. He is just mocking us tho. Like with every new vehicle, some people just buy them to have them and don't care about the culture which is why you don't get waves back all the time. It was probably like that when the TJ was in production too. I'm sure some of the people who leased them didn't care about the wave. Luckily by preaching to everyone on the forum, you're reaching out to people who wave all the time

I always did the "Thumbs up". Because a Thumbs up doesn't need to be reciprocated.

It's pretty much just saying, " I like your choice of vehicle." They can respond if they like but it's not required. That was in my old CJ-7 in East Texas.... now that I'm in LA and see 10-15 JKU Sahara's everyday... we'll see how this pans out.

I think JKs are getting an unfair rep.

I drive a JKU, take it wheeling, and wave at every wrangler i notice. Hell, part of the reason i bought the thing was because of the wave.

On the road, i definitely get just as many snubs from older model jeeps as i do from JKs.

It's funny, down here we get allot of "Snowbirds" towing their stock Wranglers that seem to be mostly TJs. I never get these people to wave. On the brighter side, there are a couple of Wranglers I pass each day either coming to work or going home. There was one stock JK and a stock TJ that wouldn't wave back. That didn't stop me, I still waved at each one every day and they finally figured it out. Now during my commute, I have a 99%-100% wave success rate.
