IS it just me or does it seem people in the newer yuppie jeeps don't wave I thought this was a jeep thing? I wave at all passing jeeps, so what's up with that

I only wave to YJs and CJs. Anything newer I dont wave at unless one is given to me first. It is an unwritten rule that you dont wave to a newer model unless they wave first. I bust my butt keeping a 20 yr old vehicle running on the road and jerks in the JKs can wave to me but Im not waving to them unless they initiate it!

I wave to all wranglers. My wife laughs at how adamant I am and tells me I am too eager. I get about 60% waving back.

I drive a JK as a daily driver and wave to all jeeps.

In my book a 20 yr old vehicle is new. If I didn't wave to folks in vehicles newer than my 1931, I wouldn't wave much.

And what about the Toyota guys who say stuff like "I don't need a Jeep Thang" all sarcastic like.... I hate that condesending BS. We all share the trails and if someone is broke down on the trail it maters not what type of rig they are in I am gonna stop and lend a hand.

x100. If you live in Montana half the vehicles are wranglers. Not sure if you ever go to Sturgis during bike week (have not missed a single time since 1999 and first one was 1977) nobody waves lol as your freaking arm would fall off. If I am in the middle of no where I would probably wave but chances are I would wave at a guy on a tractor too lol.

Jeep wave

I'm new to the jeep world, just leased a 2014 jeep unlimited sport 4 dr and I'm noticing guys with other wranglers waving at me, kinda of like what Harley Davidson n motorcycle guys do. So I was wondering if it was an actual thing or are people just nice around my area with other wranglers ? Thanks

Wranglers and waves go together. Welcome! Wave to all other wranglers even if they don't wave back. You'll eventually start waving even walking down the street haha.

I catch myself waving at Wranglers even when I'm driving my truck. ( It becomes habit after while thus I forget I'm in the truck). I get waves back or at least some fingers in the air off the wheel about 60% of the time when in the Jeep. If I don't get a wave in return I just chalk it up to me waving at the Wrangler not the driver. You may also notice Jeeps like to park next to Jeeps in parking lots, and after you do some mods (if you do) you will notice guys looking at your suspension, tire sizes and even on hands and knees to get a better look. First time I saw it I thought he was trying to steal my wife's JKU. It was quite funny when I walked up and he asked what kind of shocks I was running......I catch myself doing the same crazy stuff anymore.

Welcome to this "thing of ours."

Yeah it was funny to see, I ride a bike too and don't just wave at other Harley's. If your on two wheels, or now, in a wrangler, you're getting a wave from me.

Can you mod a leased Wrangler? I'm thinking no.

Of course you can. They probably won't even give you issues, but I'd keep all the stock parts, return it to stock before you turn it in and sell the aftermarket stuff to make some money back.

Ok. I've never leased so I'm not familiar with the limitations.

We removed the hard top the other day and took some friends for a drive who were visiting from Australia. My wife was explaining the Jeep wave when we saw one coming at us. Fortunately, he waved. I said, "See there?". They thought it was cool.

I hate to admit it but you are kind of right and I drive a JK 2 door and see more JK "U" that give the JK a bad name
That said
There a lot of 4 door jeepers that do wave
Let's face it the " yuppy - let's buy a cool SUV type" have no intention of becoming a true jeeper
I kind of enjoy their pathetic stupid faces when I wave cause they are clueless

That's funny you'd say that. My yj was off the streets for several years and after I got on the road again, I just watched other jeeps to see if the jeep wave was still alive. It took about 3 months before I even got one wave and to my surprise, it was from a JKU CJs, YJs and some TJs used to always wave... I kinda miss it
