I gotta 95 and I always wave at any wrangler. Most people around here in western pa don't really wave and I've even got dirty looks from other yjs and cjs

That's funny you'd say that. My yj was off the streets for several years and after I got on the road again, I just watched other jeeps to see if the jeep wave was still alive. It took about 3 months before I even got one wave and to my surprise, it was from a JKU CJs, YJs and some TJs used to always wave... I kinda miss it

Complete opposite here cj's yj's and tj's wave but don't even look at the jk's lol. Gotten to the point that I don't even try but on my way home today a jk actually waved and caught me off guard so I guess I was the a**hole this time haha

I am 50, 30 years ago I used to do the Corvette wave. I just got my junker reliable (and safe!) enough to be on the road again. So I figured I'd play by the rules & wave! CJ's, YJ's, &TJ's wave....JK's (sorry those of you that do) are clueless. It is pretty funny. I just hope my POS stays running long enough to put the roof back on & wave in the winter. Be safe.

As you said, some of us JKU drivers wave. The really sad part is that those of you that ignore the jk and the jku, better hope that your CJ's,YJ's and TJ's never die, because since no one is passing on the wave tradition to the new people, it will eventually die altogether. I have had 2 CJ's in the past, so I understand the wave. The reason they are "clueless", is that no one ever bothered to tell them.

Not completely correct. In the last 2 years since moving to this state, I've talked to several people in my area at gas stations, grocery store parking lots, etc., that never wave. I told them why I wave and have received replies ranging from, "Ya, I know, I just don't want any part of it." Or "I didn't buy my CAR to join some club!" And the one that boils my balls..."Ya, I heard about the Jeep wave, I just think it's stupid!"

My girlfriend knows how passionate I am about my Jeeps, and she's owned a TJ for 9 years. She STILL refuses to wave.

Okay for all the guys who profile the wave/don't wave jeepers: last night a guy in a very modded jeep looked right at me and did not wave, this morning a women wearing a Hijab, driving a stock Sahara gave me a smile and a wave

Yeah it's hit and miss sometimes. I was completely covered in mud, dirt, sand, the works, and I've got a few mods, enough to stand out. I pulled up to a decked out JKU at a red light with a lift, 35s, highlift jack mounted on the hood, and light bars up the ass. It's like he was going out of his way to avoid making eye contact with me. Light turns green and we're riding side by side and stop at the next light again. Still, nothing... I'm like as filthy as I am right now I know this guy sees me. Heck, I'm even getting waves and thumbs ups from people in KIA Souls lol. This guy is just the ultimate mall crawler or he's just too cool for me.

Meh...nobody ever told me: I just figured it out. Seemed logical, actually. I'm in a Jeep and other Jeepers are waving at me...so, wave back!

Guess that concept is just too much for some folks! LoL

self-conscious that the less-modded jeep was dirtier? Lol

Jeep wave got me in trouble!

I was in a parking lot and I did the Jeep wave to another Jeep and my wife got mad because the other Jeep's driver was a woman. She knew nothing about the Jeep wave and thought I was making it all up. Then, to make matters worse none of the Jeeps I drove past after that returned the Jeep wave!!

I'm a girl and I wave to everyone. Very few times will a guy wave to me if there is a female in the passenger seat. I am sure it is because of what you described. I don't understand people being that insecure. My husband knows I wave and doesn't have an issue with it at all.

No Jeep drivers wave in Iowa (except me). There must be a law against it.

I'm a shameless waver. Your wife would probably think we were best friends. I'm all over-the-top-of-opened-roof waving and smiling.

I wave like crazy. I would say it is 50/50 if I will get a wave back. That is crazy that she got mad at you for waving but pretty funny that no other jeeps waved at you all day after that...lol

I think I figured it out. Today I was getting gas in my YJ and a JK pulled up next to me. (We exchanged the obligatory "nice Jeep") Then I asked him. "Do you ever wave to other Jeeps when they pass?" He looked a bit confused. But he replied, "I never noticed a wave....I must be too busy raising or lowering my power windows, or adjusting my 6 way heated leather seats, or programming my factory GPS, or fixing the temp of my automatic climate control so the kids in the back can be comfortable on our way to the mall, or sometimes I am trying to get my bluetooth or the MP3 from my iPhone synced to my 30 speaker factory radio."

I just said, "Oh!"

Now I let the wave down. I was daydreaming and admiring a jeep as it passed, and forgot to wave until they waved, and by then it was too late for them to see my super late wave.

I was actually shocked that I felt bad that someone waved and I did not wave back.

How low class of you to put fuel in your own vehicle. I have a fuel guy you should consider getting one.
