Trust me, they are waving at you and it has nothing to do with the Jeep wave.

I have posted a lot of wave science here on the forum. Here is an example:

Much as I'm sure this will sound like a stereotype I've found I get the wave from most anybody I'm nice enough to wave to first and quite a few I miss all together. Might be a "Canada" thing, might not, but the only ones I've seen not wave much are the fancy a$$ sports cars that you just know are a supplement for shortcomings elsewhere or the pickups done up to mimic a big rig with the stacks and headache racks that really make no sense because you know the person is never hauling anything in it and that the thing cost too much to ever even take a chance at a paint scratch.

That being said, I try to wave at all of them unless it's someone I know to be a douche.

Well, you've got to give them some credit there. They just don't want you to mistake it for hand signals, i.e., one wave means left turn, two waves means right turn, three waves means I'm drying my fingernail polish.

Jeep Wave

I always get a wave from the "built Jeeps". It IS kind of a heirarchy tho...The least built Jeep waves first to the most built Jeep out of respect...and a female driver has NEVER waved to me

Yeah just try waving your arm out the window/door. More of a chance they will see it and maybe the Wranglers in your area will learn from you! When I first test drove my wrangler, I had about 10 other Jeepers wave at me and I though "Well this is cool! Now I have to buy this!"

My oh my! We have Jeep Nazis here? (good job on the Seinfield soup nazi reference doclouie!)

Yeah, I will wave to a 4-door once and get no wave back, maybe even twice just to give them a chance that they missed it the first time or learned something. However, continuously snub me and I will NOT extend the wave again....

Remember, if you snub another jeeper, they may not extend another courtesy wave until they are passing you broke down on the side of the road....and THAT wave to you might be with only one finger, get it?

Up here in Edmonton, AB, Canada...I wave - You wave....well most of the time. Yes, a good portion of 4 dr owners are soccer moms. Great example of this was last week. My wife was going to her truck (2010 Colorado) & saw a nice 4 dr Rubicon. She saw a chick unlocking the door to it and said "Nice JK" The chick said back " Ok I guess, but it's a Rubicon" Discusion continued, but end was chickie just didn't understand. Then was her BF, he thought my wife was giving her a hard time. Turns out he has a 99 Wrangler. He said in closing, that he would explain "JK" to his GF.. LOL

On that same note, I saw a boy in a YJ with a hardtop and doors off at the store yesterday. I was parked across from him in my Jeep, so as I passed I said, "nice jeep!" He looked right at me and didn't even acknowledge the comment.

As a Jeep fanatic, I was shocked, but shrugged it off and proceeded to stand in the parking lot and take my ragtop off. (ok, had too since it was nice out and he was in a hardtop. jab-jab tee hee!)

Then, another guy pulled up in a Honda Prelude next to him. The YJ guy got out of his Jeep and started moving things from his Jeep to the Honda. Obviously, he had some kinda problem, so I waited a sec to offer help. Kept watching them, but still no acknowledgement. He jumped in so fast, there was no time to even go outta my way to ask if I could help.

As they pulled away, the YJ boy said loudly, "piece of crap Jeep" and they drove off.

I stood there, frozen. I looked at his poor baby abandoned in the lot. He had not even raised the hood to try and see what was going on. She was sitting there half-naked (doors off) and shamed. I went over and patted the corner of her bumper and said under my breath, "poor baby. You just need some love."

Now, he looked to be around 19-20, and this is a college town with alot of snobby kids. But for the love of God--if you don't show your baby some respect, she will disrespect you!

back at ya!
I have a 4dr JK as of 6-30-10 and I am not a yuppie but, I do have kids. The 2dr just wasn't practical for me. But, I LOVE my gas guzzling girl and missed having a Jeep. It's a Jeep thing...if you don't wave...you don't understand.

Shame on you and the others that don't wave to 4 drs. Maybe, if ya'll start waving, you'll make these people paranoid and they'll start researching waves on the internet. Then, they will come across the Jeep wave and put 2+2 together and start waving.

I always wave at everything that says Jeep and has a removable top. I was speaking in generalities. I've been waved at once by a 4dr in 3 years.

UPDATE: Just came back from the grocery store and that poor abandoned YJ from last night has been moved. Thank God. I could barely stand it.

And, I passed about 5 other Jeeps on the way over to the store. Waved at 3 JKs...NO RESPONSE. And one of them was sitting next to me at the light. Can we all together say... ??? And my ragtop was down, so no excuse that they did not see me. We made eye contact. I understand you JK-guys on here get it, but in my neck of the woods they just don't get it.

However, my happiness was quickly restored by a frantically waving back TJ and a GORGEOUS CJ!

Read your scientific post and the next time I see some one doing something gross, I am going to try really hard to not look away to see if I can catch them doing something spy like!

Just having some fun . I wave all the time except once to a cool Jeep (2dr) with the driver wearing a funny hat . My husband was saying I was being silly by waving and while we were debating it they turned and gave a big wave! I was like "look! now you made me miss the wave and they probably think I'm a snob! It's no different than you waving to other people when your on your Harley!" He kinda got it then.
I still feel bad about missing that wave and if I see that person again I'm gonna give em a big wave!
Sometimes I wave at the 2dr and don't give waves back even when I know they see me. Oh well.

I know the reason he didn't acknowledge you. Putting it delicately so as not to get in trouble again, it's pretty obvious that he's playing for the other team. You should have realized that when you took your shirt off and didn't get a reaction, even if it was just a rag.

Hell, I even wave at other jeeps when they're traveling the opposite direction on the interstate...actually got a wave back once. Habit I guess, and I just can't bear not to wave. Its about 50/50 here, but I still wave. The one time I didn't wave I happened to be glancing over at my wife and then saw the wave too late as we passed. They probably thought I was the typical 4dr JK suit wearing snob.

Bad Tom! (just kidding!)

And...
I just love this forum! It gives me the outlet I need to "talk shop"!! My family, quite frankly, grows tired of me going to the window and staring out longingly at my Jeep--trying to come up with an excuse to drive her. It is SOO nice to know you guys are here and understand!
