Great to spend time with both of you! The workmanship rally shows on Bob's CJ3A. I really can't thank you enough for all the info. This was definitely a productive vacation. I look forward to getting some 32's on my TJ this fall and finally getting it off the beaten path. My wife said I grinned for 2 hrs after riding in the Willys

so yesterday on my way to my gfs house (16 miles away). i saw 17 or 18 wranglers. 4 of them were JKs, and i believe 2 were YJs, everything else was tjs and 3-4 of the tjs were modded. I waved to all of them and got ONLY 1 WAVE BACK FROM ONE OF THE JKs.

I got a wave from a WRX today with Jersey Plates (i'm in upstate NY). Kid Must have a Jeep.....he had a look on his face like "Hey Jee.....uh...ooops I'm in my Suby......"

I'll still take the Wave though Maybe it's someone from the forum on Vacation........'Sorry I didn't wave back..took me a second of surprise to realize you were prob a Jeep Owner with an Identity Problem.'

I had a YJ when I lived in VA and NC. Every Jeep owner waved (this was before the days of TJ's and JK's) Here in Kansas, NOBODY waves. Occasionally I get a wave back from a lifted YJ, but other than that nothing. I've almost given up, but I refuse to let tradition die I guess.

On a side note, I also ride a Harley. When I use to ride without a helmet, the other HD riders would wave. I've since started to wear a helmet whenever I ride and rarely get a wave. In fact, now I get more waves from the crotch rocket crowd.

I wave.... stock unlimited, but had a Jeep in the 80's. Most of the time, I get a wave back, no matter the lift... Top off does increase the wave back percentage...

If y'all are really in need of gettin' "the wave" I'd suggest finding a Willys Jeep to ride around in! Everyone waves at a Willys... hell, I've even had them follow me into the gas station just to say hey.

JK, TJ, YJ, blah blah blah! It all began with a Willys!

today i was on my way out.. saw a jeep with 32-33" boggers on it all nice and muddy. Should have asked him where he stole the mud from at the stop light but i forgot. He ask me how the 35s balanced though. I also saw another yellow tj down the road from there. The saw me at the last moment and waved. And at last i saw another stock tj and also got a wave. Its quite nice. i saw 5 wranglers and those 3 waved while the other 2 didn't. One of them was talking on the phone and appeared to be flying somewhere while the other one wasnt paying attention to the road at all.

On a side note, if i wait to get a wave from a willys i'd would most likely retire.

I wave to ALL Wranglers and CJs, but it seems like I have more "returned" waves from modded TJs. Fewer YJs and JKs wave in return, but it's all good. I also wave at all SCOUTS and BRONCOS because they're usually driven by real off-roaders. I see too many soccer moms in JKs (but some are hot, so that's cool), so alot of times I only half-heartedly wave at the 4-doors knowing I probably won't get a return wave.

Oh, and I want to all of the lifted Dodge pickups with GIANT dual exhausts and really big tires whose owners think they've built God's gift to the off-road world....but I don't.

For the record, all you Rhode Island Jeep Drivers should be ASHAMED of yourselves.........I just spent 4 1/2 Days in Rhode Island (No.& So. Kingston, Wickford, Jamestown area), and passed at LEAST 40 Wranglers, Rubicons, what have you; waving at each and every one, I never received ONE wave in return.

Having family in various locations in Rhode Island, and having gone to college there, I'm very fond of Rhode Island (especially "Beaver Tail") but I'm ashamed of ya'll for NOT returning the "wave."

There is a guy on base here that has 2 scramblers and one is pretty much stock and cherry, and another that he is going to mod the heck out of.

What part of Kansas? Cuz I'm in Kansas and I always wave unless I'm not paying attention. I get about 50% waves but most of the non wavers are stock jeeps with old people or chicks in them. I wave to all 2 door jeeps. I have waved at a few JK's and might continue the trend (especially since a friend bought one)but I have yet to get a wave from a JK.

lately iv been getting alot of these cool genre of waves. usuelly at a 3-4 way stop and your turning right on red(texas), and you pass another jeep waiting on red...as your turning you can do a wave and see them wave back thru the rear view mirror. or vice virsa. pretty cool.

i keep seeing the same guy here. our tj's are damn near identical except his is a little newer and is a rubicon unlimited. this is like the only guy who waves to me! argh!!

i initiate it to every modded wrangler i see, and almost every heavily modded jeep (cherokee, grand cherokee, cj's, whatever) and all i get in return is a blank stare.

i honestly dont get it.

It occurred to me as I was re-reading this thread, yet again, that the "Forum" itself is a "wave" to other Jeepsters!!

Excellent point! My sentiments exactly. IMO - More the reason to keep the forum a friendly oasis for fellow Jeepers especially the newer drivers.

Im about a week into owning my jeep and I already have an identity crisis...No one waves back when I'm on the ambulance or engine, they just stare at me and then I realize I am in a big red thing that is NOT a jeep. Around here the people with the tops down or mud on their's tend to wave back.
