I'm a bit partial to the Jeep wave.

I'm new to the Jeep community, but have owned a Chevrolet Corvette for a few years now. Vette owners also have a friendly wave to other vette drivers out there, but we don't wave at every Chevrolet vehicle.

Using that same logic, since I'm driving my Jeep Wrangler YJ in the weekends, I most definately wave all all CJs, YJs, TJs, JKs and XJs, etc ... bone stock or modded up, because it's another Wrangler, regardless.

I admit I don't initiate a wave to Cherokee's, Libertys, Compasses etc, no offense, but they are not driving a Wrangler like me ... however, if they wave first, I'll respond!

My .02.

3 for 7 today. Stoked to see that many in my neck of the woods and that I saw a dozer and a crush.

i know its acceptable for a 'head nod' if both your hands are occupied, but for some reason the head nod just doesn't look right when i girl does it.

yesterday, i was turning onto another road and shifting and this guy was flashing me the wave and i couldn't return it, so i tried to do the head nod. fail.

My favorite is the mutual, early morning coffee wave/nod. It happens when you pass a Jeep and notice them mid sip. LOL

Wave at everyone. Soccer mom, hard core crawler, it doesnt matter. If they have the Jeep, they are in the club. People aren't stupid. If we wave at them enough they'll get it, even prozac gulping, supermoms. And dont get pi$$ed if they dont wave back, you are doing it right, they are not. Be a better Jeeper than they are, and show them the way!

Been a while since I have seen any Jeep love. I do not know what is happening in Jacksonville, but I am lucky to get one out of 20 here. I wave to all wranglers regardless and I am thinking even the wave is slowly falling away... not sure what else could explain it. I remember years ago when I would be on the road, every single Jeep would wave back.

Either the Jeep wave is leaving us or the Zombies have gotten to everyone!

Talking Sometimes they wave, Sometimes they don't

4 Jeep Waves yesterday in a short trip to the store here in Chicago. Most of the time, folks wave if you are on a 2 lane road. I always try to wave first. Sometimes I am zoned out thinking about other things (like cancer), but most of the time I catch the other jeep and wave. It is hard here in Chicago if there is more than 2 lanes and a lot of traffic. I think that folks just do not notice. I had a YJ and not I have a JK. Loved both jeeps. In the end, many of you will find it necessary to buy a newer jeep. It happens. Hope people wave at you then as they do now. I think we should all wave. It is a silly little thing that places us on a higher plain than other vehicles. It is part of the jeep mystique. Just smile and wave regardless of how much LIFT you have added to your jeep!

So, I tend to get really pissy when folks JKU bash, saying that the soccer moms driving them never wave etc. Since I definitely off road in my JKU and I am a female it just gets under my skin. BUT I have to say after weeks of observation it really is mostly JKUs driven by females that dont wave! Its shameful! So now I go out of my way to make sure they SEE me wave, arm out the window devil horns up...maybe they will catch on! or maybe they will just think I am crazy?

when i was rollin in my built toyota it was devil horns to all toyota owners who had built rigs.figured the stockers wouldnt understand.probably same with jeeps.seems the guys(and gals) who run modified jeeps are more into it.

First snow of the season must have meant good luck all around. Went 4 for 5, the one that didn't wave was drinking coffee. So I'll give her a pass.

Almost every Wrangler owner in and around the Albany, NY area waves. I live around the Albany NY area and have been from Albany all the way up north to the Adirondacks and 9 out of 10 Wrangler owners wave. I initiate the wave and so does everyone else. Seems like the way of life around my area. All Jeep guys are friendly and wave and even some Cherokee guys get in on it haha. The Wave is alive and kicking in Upstate NY

I do the same thing all the time!! lol I even over-extend so there's no confusion as to what I'm doing! lol Anybody riding with me laughs everytime I see one comin, yell "JEEP!!" and give this frantic long armed wave.

The culture really changed around '08 when the JK became mainstream, with a lot on the road. Many JK owners, as we all know, would never have considered a TJ, YJ, or god forbid a CJ! lol

When I had my old TJ (pre JK release), every Jeep owner I passed, waved! And when I first bought my JK in late 2007, there were a lot then too... but the times were-a-changin'.

Yeah, don't be too hard on the "stockers"...some of us are just new to Jeeps and haven't had time to modify anything yet...like me...lol. I'm still just making sure everything is full and/or safe to drive. THEN the mods will start.

I'm glad there is a somewhat universal Jeep wave. I used to ride bikes till the hips gave out and there definately is a comradery among bikers.

I'll work on my wave today while I'm out.

Haha, this made me chuckle. My wife was driving home from work in our TJ the other day and came in to the house and immediately began to complain that the female Jeep drivers don't wave and what the hell is their problem!

I had a YJ in 93 through 97. Everyone waved. I needed a larger jeep for a while to cart my family around so for a while I was stuck driving Grand Cherokee's and Liberty's. I always missed my YK. This summer I bought a 2011 JK Rubicon. It was on the dealer showroom floor and it was loaded with everything it could have. I love the new jeep. It is a 2-door with dual tops. Top is off most of the time, except winters here are COLD and ICY, so I wanted the hard top for the winter. I wave at all Wranglers or older jeeps.

The other day, I waved at a JKU Sahara in my neighborhood and I was coming back from the gym. The jeep was new and was the same color as mine, I figured the guy would wave back. He was in the left turn lane and I was going straight through the intersection. I waved the entire arm and hand like you do, and the dude just stared at me as I passed him. He definately had a look of contempt?

I do not get it? you are right, lots of folks no longer wave. Older or modified jeeps won't wave to newer JK's, even though we are old time Jeepers in newer jeeps, and a lot of folks new to the jeeps don't get it?

I'm still going to wave at em!

My wife likes to pick on me about doing the Jeep wave, first it was the Harley salute now its the Jeep wave...but when the whole family is riding with me we all yell "Jeep-Jeep" & wave. Some times we get a wave back...most times, really strange looks with four people yelling & waving :-)

I wave to every wrangler i see, and modified cherokees. I even saw a Jeep wagoneer with a ridiculous lift on it, so i had to wave. But i do tend to notice that it is the JK's that dont wave back.

I was actually thinking about the non-waving JK drivers. I figured there was already a disussion about it - glad I was right - LOL. I've had my TJ for 2 weeks now, and the first time I took it out for a cruise, exchanged a wave from another TJ within 30 seconds of leaving my driveway. Tried with a stock JK and no wave back. Then tried with a JK with aftermarket AUX lights and sure enough, wave back! So for JKs, unless it's visibly modded, my tendancy will be to wait for them to wave first haha.
