Chicago Wave

I wave at all the Jeeps. All models and years are as beautiful as the folks inside in my book. If someone is in the 4th lane over in oncoming traffic it just might be possible they didn't see me wave. But I still wave.

Whats with the lack of love for stockers? All the lifted Jeeps I see are always parked at the mall or Dairy Queen. Very few are dirty and none of them ever have their tops off. My mostly stock(so far) Rubi gets out in the woods more than most, and contrary to popular belief, those full doors and hard tops actually are removable.

Possibility, I wave as long as the traffic isn't to heavy, for some odd reason people like to live in Santa Clarita, making it more crowded.

On the way home from a trail run on Sat, and I came up on a JKU sitting off rural 2 lane, with the flashers on. Pulled in to see if they needed help and it was an elderly couple in a brand new sport. I asked them if they were ok, and they said they were a little lost but had just gotten new directions by phone. The wife says: "it was awfully nice of you to stop and check on us." I told her us Jeepers have to stick together, at which ppint she looked behind her and noticed my Rubi. She says:" Wow your Jeep is dirty". I told her they should try off-roading sometime. The old guy says:" Hell yeah! Thats what I keep telling her." I told them about the wave and headed home for beer. Still smiling about that encounter.

A lot of the rice rocket guys wave by lifting a finger or two off of the grips, its not as obvious as lowering the hand from the handle bars. Bikers are pretty good about waving, all types and brands.

Most Jeepers around here wave. TJs and YJs almost always wave. It seems like the JK drivers don't wave the most, agree it seems like they don't know about it.

The crawling here is extreme. I've read where guys said the access roads to the trails were harder than most hard trails elsewhere

They tend not to notice "lesser" vehicles such as mine

Always Wave

I always wave. No need for people to act like arse holes because they have a lift kit and fancy themselves in some elite club. That would be like me driving around in my Blown ZO6 and refusing to wave at a Z51 C5 owner. If i am in my Jeep, Vette, or riding my Harley I wave and am friendly to other owners. No need for people to get on high-horses because they think they have achieved some elite status with a Jeep. Be friendly and wave often. Plenty of us semi stock people out there with DDs who arent decked out like Mad Max.

I've had other kinds of vehicles that require waving, and yes, some of the owners forget. They forget, are listening to the radio, or are preoccupied. But Jeep owners are the ones most likely to remember to wave. Nearly all do.

When I used to ride my motorcycle, everyone on two wheels waved back. Every once in a while, some guy in a tricked out Harley would refuse to return the wave. Well, after I turned my bike around and chased them down until they stopped, and then smacked them on the side of the head, usually in the temple, next time I saw them they were always sure to wave. Just apply this to Jeepin', and you'll always get the wave after a while...

I received the best wave ever. Stopping my new JK at a four way stop, multilane that connects with I820, and I noticed this guy in a naked TJ waving at me frantically. Well I just had to roll down my window and wave back (I know I have had the Jeep two weeks and have not taken the top off yet). I thought he would fall out of his Jeep waving at me and I thought for a second that he might need help.

However, he continued on his way, waving the peace sign like his life depended on it, and man that made me feel good.

On the other hand, I waved at two females in new looking JK Jeeps and had no wave returned. One of the nice Jeep women in her Jeep was on a two-lane road and she looked at me as if I was a serial axe murder when I waved at her.

Maybe people in Naked Jeeps are happier. Time to take the doors, top off the new Jeep, and be happy!

i must have waved at a dozen TJ's today. Didn't get one back from any of them. Sorry I don't have $5,000 dollars to mod my jeep yet. I guess being covered in mud just isn't good enough for you guys. Only one guy did wave, he was on a motorcycle. That being said I don't think I'll be waving at anymore stuck up snobs who think they are badass because they have more money than me.

I find that similar to a golf clap...you put just enough effort into it. You can't be upset about people not waving back when you're not waving in the first place, but yes, it's thew newest of Wranglers that don't know the wave.

I always wave to other Jeeps and I don't know if it's because I'm in an old YJ or what, but I don't get many waves back from JK owners. My own JK gets here this week, so I'll be sure to do some testing to see if that's what it is.

Please let us know the results of your tests! And numbers if you could?

It seems to be common theme that the JK's are the ones who need to their Wranglers to the worthy.

Wave at me I will wave!! I wave and most don't wave back. Especially snotty stuck up women who drive around and think their sh*t don't stink. ( guess I don't fall into that category). I keep on waving anyway

I'm a bit partial to the Jeep wave.

I'm new to the Jeep community, but have owned a Chevrolet Corvette for a few years now. Vette owners also have a friendly wave to other vette drivers out there, but we don't wave at every Chevrolet vehicle.

Using that same logic, since I'm driving my Jeep Wrangler YJ in the weekends, I most definately wave all all CJs, YJs, TJs, JKs and XJs, etc ... bone stock or modded up, because it's another Wrangler, regardless.

I admit I don't initiate a wave to Cherokee's, Libertys, Compasses etc, no offense, but they are not driving a Wrangler like me ... however, if they wave first, I'll respond!

My .02.
