I'm a new JKU owner and have had people wave, I wave back! No mods yet. New rims and tires are at the top of the list, the some side steps, who knows what else.

I think the first one was when I had the Jeep for about 4 days and saw a guy in a 2 door wearing a suit and tie with no doors on and he waved to me. I even told my wife: 'OTHER PEOPLE IN JEEPS ARE WAVING AT ME!' She just rolled her eyes...

So keep waving to the stock JKU drivers. We may not wave back because we're staring at your Jeep admiring the mods and saying 'Whoa! I'm buying that piece next...'

My wife has been rolling her eyes at me about the wave since I picked up my TJ a couple of weeks ago.

Her truck was in the shop yesterday so she drove the Jeep. When I got home she sheepishly admitted that she waved at 3 other Jeeps.

Appears I haven't replied to this "Jeep wave" thread yet.

I had to look up exactly what type of Jeep a JK is to make sure I knew what I was talking about.

As a general rule, I usually don't wave at most 4 door Jeeps as those are usually being driven by soccer moms and grocery gettin' people who NEVER wave back. Personally, and this will probably upset some, if you wanted a 4 door Jeep, you probably should've just bought a grocery gettin' station wagon, to begin with!!

Also have noticed most females don't wave back unless you happen to see one with the top/doors off. Obviously, those females KNOW about Jeep etiquette and such.
I'm one of the soccer (ok, technically it's karate & softball) moms who drives a stock (at the moment) 4 door JK. Hey, I have 2 kids and my JK is my DD. I don't want them tripping over my seat every time they get in or out AND I need the extra storage room. My hubby has had 2 CJ's in the past but this is *my* 1st jeep.

I'm also the lady who spent all of my 20's belonging to the local 4-wheel drive club and going wheelin' most weekends. I slacked off while my kids were younger but now that they're older, I'm ready to get back into it. I took my week old stock JK out into our old stomping grounds/trails to get a feel for her and came out with some backwoods pinstripping to show for it. ; ) My jeep is stock right because it's my DD and I drive 44 miles each day taking the kids back & forth to school. I NEED the stock mpg. BUT that doesn't stop me from drooling over my 4Wheel Drive Hardware and Quadrarec catalogs.

I wave at all of the jeeps that I see but all don't wave back at me. Like another poster said, I can kind of tell the ones who look at me, with my stock JK, and think they're above me with their modded jeeps..... yeah, they aren't going to wave but that's ok. I wave anyway. It just makes it even sweeter when I pass the ones who do wave.....heavily modded or not.

My favorite local jeeper is a guy I don't even know. His jeep is my jeep's beefed up, bad ass twin brother BUT he still waves at the stock driving JK soccer mom he passes almost every day. *That* makes him cool in my book.

I guess the point of my post is, don't judge a "soccer" mom by her stock JK cover. ; )

haha i like the drive a hybrid one!, could you do that on a spare tire cover (black cover red lettering like above) "drive a hybrid" going around the edge on top and "my jeep needs the gas" going around the edge on the bottom and rough outline of a jeep at the pump in the middle? if so how much would something like that run? (33X12.50 tire)

I wave. At ALL Wranglers and CJs. Regardless of the model, number of doors, gender of the driver, amount of money they've spent on mods, et al.

Can't tell you whether any wave back or not, 'cuz I'm not paying attention to that.

Much akin to Harleys, Corvettes, Bugs, etc., it's a kindred spirit thing. Tribal. You get the wave, regardless.

I have had my JKU for 1 1/2 weeks now. I am a mom of three, but none of them play soccer!! I wave to all Wranglers. Almost all of the drivers have waved back!

The evening I picked up my Jeep, I was at a red light just past the dealership and trying to figure out something on the radio. I looked up and noticed another JKU across the median at the southbound light. I waved and immediately got a wave back from him! It was exciting - I felt like I had been accepted into the Wrangler community!

My boys noticed that I wave at all of the other Wranglers and asked me why I didn't wave to everybody! I told them it is a "Jeep Thing".

I need to start yelling out Jeep so they will start that! It can be like the punch buggy game! (Although, punching each other when they see a punch buggy is probably more exciting to them than waving!)

Then tried with a JK with aftermarket AUX lights and sure enough, wave back! So for JKs, unless it's visibly modded, my tendancy will be to wait for them to wave first haha.
Keep waving, in time they will learn. I get about 50% here but it seems to be climbing so maybe waving at them all does help.

Haha will do

It's too bad my Jeep just sits 5 days out of the week, There's so many times that I get the urge to wave sitting in my Mazda or the lowly Bus.

New to forum.... majority of Jeep wranglers, YJ, CJ types and older are the ones that wave for the most part..... the ones that do not wave are usually those with newer models. My wife asked "why do people with jeeps wave to each other? I said it's a jeep thing.

I wave to ALL Jeeps - Willy's, CJ's and Wranglers. (2 for 3 today while driving around Atlanta)

It is a Jeep thing. I just bought a '12 Unlimited Rubicon and "may" lift it and put '35's on it one day, but for now....I'm pretty sure it will eat up most N. Georgia trails that come my way. Afterall, it's all about reading the terrain anyway; knowing what you have and how to use it.

So, if you see an all white '12 Unlimited Rubi in Atlanta...look for the wave 'cause it's a comin'.

I am getting set up for screen printing the tire covers now. I am making a special jig/press setup that I can raise or lower. It will have a tire cover stretcher implemented to get a good print.

Nice.
I live in Va beach, va, and I have found that 80% of the people in this city couldn't care less about a wave or even common courtesy on the road, however if I cross the city line into Chesapeake, not only are the roads smoother, but every single Jeep waves, not just the Wranglers, but ALL of them, until I reach teh populated sections of Chesapeake, then its just like Va beach.
