Don;t laugh at my wifes Liberty, it may look like a spaceship inside and run as quiet as a luxury car, but at 49 years old working all our lives we deserve it, and well...at least its a Jeep.
Now on to more important matters, as for your comment of your Jeep eating stock jeeps, bring it down here to Va, I got a mostly all stock 01 Wrangler and I'd LOVE go with ya where ever around here you can go I may not get back but I'll dam sure love getting there

I'm still amazed by the amount of Jeep people who don't wave. I understand if it's a totally stock looking Jeep with someone in it not paying attention. What I don't get is the lack of wave from all of the big built jeeps, especially ones covered in mud and looking like someone fun at the wheel.

First question: do you have more mud on your rig than they do?

One: if you do they're jealous and won't wave.

Two: if you don't they feel superior and won't wave.

Second question: Do you have a better build than they do.

See question number one.

Third question: Is the rig approaching you driven by a guy or a gal?

One: If you are of the same gender (or think you are) they'll wave. However any response to this must be tempered by question four.

Two: if you are of different genders (or think you are) they probably won't wave (unless, of course, they are hunting) See question four.

Fourth question: Is the rig approaching you driven by a guy or a gal?

One: If you are of the same gender (or think you are) and this is ok, they'll probably wave. However any response to this must be tempered by question three.

Two: if you are of different genders (or think you are) and this is ok, they'll probably wave (especially if they are hunting) See question three.

I live in Evansville IN, people here don't really wave at Jeeps. When I initiate a wave, I usually get confused looks. Most of the jeeps I see here are four doors driven by soccer moms or people that like to say they have a jeep. I don't have my jeep highly modified, but it is not just a garage ornament.

Tons of Jeeps on the Mass Pike yesterday on our way out to Boston. Wasn't I surprised when I had a Red JKU waving at me from the fast lane! I didn't catch it until the last moment so if you read this... and thanks! it totally made my day!

I wave at all jeep wranglers stock or not cuz they all start that way! (remember your roots!) And I do agree with a previous post it's expensive to upgrade your jeep! My new wheels and tires were REALLY expensive!

I'm getting some stickers organized for homecoming of the Jeep..

I know I'm using my WF ones.

And recently, started to see how well "alive" the wave is in my town.

I was in another vehicle BUT it was pretty apparent I was waving to those Jeeps, all were TJ, one had doors and top off and no wave...

So..

I'm thinking off getting something like this made:

1. Is this corny or not?

I'll probably add it to the back glass of the hard top.

2. How big should it be? Ad says 6 x 6 - should I get it bigger?

That's cool. If your going to put it in a corner I think 6X6 or 8X8 are good sizes. But if it's going in the middle I would do it a lot bigger. 12x12 or 15x15. The bigger size would make the hand more actual size.

Got my first wave today... by another TJ. The guy was about my age. All the soccer moms have phones in their ears and the suits won't wave back.

Pulling into Brookshires this afternoon to go to the bank branch inside, as I was turning in there was a new JKU pulling up to leave, I waved and as I passed along side saw the driver waving back and smiling ear to ear! The driver was a very elderly woman, had to be late 70's. I noticed she had new dealer tags on so she had to have just bought it!

Sorry about those soccer moms... or maybe they were on their way home from work (like me!) and that's funny about NC!

3 Houston TX- no waves bad traffic
Sorry about TX, but I feel as if it were anywhere else but Houston, you would have had better luck. I know DFW has good waves, but a large number of JK non-wavers.

I usually get a 1 out of 10 of JKs here. TJs and under - 9 out of 10.

Hi guys, new to the Jeep world and had a question about the wave (sorry not reading 40 pages to find out if the answer is in there). Does the wave officially only apply to Wranglers or should I wave at anything that is a Jeep (i.e. Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Commander, Liberty, etc.)?

In short it's not the wrangler wave.. It's the JEEP wave, so yes there are other Jeeps to wave at.. however there are a ton of stock grocery getter XJ's, ZJ's, WJ's, and JKU's out there so I have a set of rules I follow when it comes to the wave so Im not waving at every Jeep I see as there are a zillion out there and if you wave at all the "momy needs a reliable 4x4" jeeps out there you'd be waving all day with no waves being returned..

I will see if I can dig up my rules to waving for you.. So I don't have to write them up again.. If I can't find them however I will type them up for you

Here you go.. I've written this up a few times in this thread in different lengths and detail. This is one of them.. FLY, Follow this, it worked great me and should for you as my return wave ratio was always very good..

1) to all 2dr wranglers/CJ's and vintage/historical Jeeps.
2) JKU's, MJ's. WJ's, XJ's, ZJ's, that are built up for offroad use they get the wave. If you see a stock JKU, MJ, WJ, XJ, or ZJ, that looks to have been used offroad initiate the wave to them.
3) Do not innitiate the wave for any stock Jeep that looks to have not seen offroad use other then the 2dr wrangler/CJ and vintage/historical Jeeps.
3.1) However if the driver of the stock Jeep inniates the wave and you see it, inniate a return wave or notable form of recongnition.
3.2) The IFS Jeeps. KJ, KK, MK compass, MK patriot, WK, WK2, and XK fall into the rules of 3 and 3.1. The owners of these Jeeps are the least likely to understand the Jeep Thing and sadly in most cases don't understand. Do however be on the lookout for the rare built up KJ, WK, and XK, they are out there although few and far between.

Follow the above and your odds of disapointment will be minimal. These rules have worked for me and should work for you to..

Thanks, that makes sense I think I'll probably wave at any Wrangler myself though just to see if I get a response. If I fail to get responses from my fellow JKU'ers I'll probably switch to your method for those.

Nah, it's not a Jeep thing it's a Wrangler thing.

I like your rules. For the pretentious pre-JKU crowd.

However, I am in the pretentious post-JKU crowd having just graduated from JKville.

Here are mine, in order:

1. Wave/raise index finger/nod to all JKU Wranglers.
2. Wave/raise index finger/nod to all JK Wranglers.
3. Wave/raise index finger/nod to all pre-'87 Wrangler-like Civ. Jeeps.
4. Wave/raise index finger/nod to all mud encrusted, fat wheeled, lifted, topless, dented Wranglers.
5. Wave/raise index finger/nod to LJ Wranglers.
6. Wave/raise index finger/nod to TJ Wranglers.
7. Wave/raise index finger/nod to YJ Wranglers.
8. Honk horn, grimace and hand gestures featuring the middle finger, or thumb through fisted index and middle finger with an upward motion and slight twist of wrist or the veritable British V sign, with aggressive upward motion, which has nothing to do with victory or peace to any and all fellow Wrangler Jeepers who look but do not reciprocate the wave. Also use for Hummers at will.
9. Blank stare to any non-Wrangler or CJ non-Wrangler-like 4x4's who initiate a wave to you. Add option #8 if you wish.
10. Definitely no wave/raise index finger/nod to Willy's, unless you are a woman and like Willy's.

Lol I'm just happy I had my first waves finally (I know there's many in Sacramento but they seem to have gone in hiding since Monday when I took delivery). I think I only had 1 out of 4-5 today that didn't wave back.

I just wave at Wranglers, plain and simple! Some wave back, some wave b4 I can and some don't wave at all! It doesn't have to be that complicated.... ~
