I love this!! It is still alive!!!
I tried my damndest to stop and let another brother out of a burger king parking lot.. He had his top off as did i (My Jeep hasn't had a top on since the day after i bought it early august) and i just couldn't help myself by stopping traffic to allow another brother to get out. He wasn't able to turn left against traffic, but i was able to say "I tried" and he could hear me because neither of us had our tops on.. WHOOOO HOOOOO!!
Did i mention that I love Jeeps???
Also, my DD is a 2005 GMC Yukon and trust me, I HATE GAS STATIONS, but i see Wranglers/CJ/JKs all day long and it is hard for me to keep my arm down..
They would probably know that I am a Jeep owner, but still....
The KINGDOME Started the Wave; Jeep Wrangler owners perfected it!

So easy on the blind guy. I also have not driven in a week. My house is getting really boring along with spending my b-day today in the house sucks.
Going back on track- REMEMBER HER NAME AND WELL HELP A JEEP BROTHER OUT! I am a good grunt and wrencher. let me know!
Tires on my jeep are 30's- cooper somethings they look mean- the bark is worse then the bite with the little 4 cyl in the "heep" ohh sorry Jeep i mean

I wave at every jeep I see. Less than half wave back. I do get more responses since the weather got better and tops are off, windows down. I usually stick my hand out the window to wave. Some wave back, some look at me like my hair is on fire, a lot don't even notice. They're too busy on their cell phones or sticking their noses in the air. I'm afraid doc is right, too many new owners that only got a jeep because it's cool, not because they are jeep people.
So, here ya go...

Well I got a jeep because it was cheap- they are cool- I can become a jeep guy. I am not afraid of scratches and dents. Most are that is the difference between jeep people and the others who just buy a jeep.

another time me and my buddy was out and about and my battery decided to take a dump so he jumped me, he has a big dodge 2500 with a v-10...but any ways, we was at advanced auto with my hood open and a nice lifted jeep sahara, 4 inch lift with 35's pulled in beside me and was like, everything ok man..my friend just looked at me funny and i replied the same to him, its a jeep thing, you wouldnt understand...

This will not get pricey because it is now my DD and my next toy I am buying in the spring is a gsxr 1000 black on black.
So actually I would never mod a 4 cyl jeep. not enough power.

I wave a lot and about 1/2 wave back. I've found the people in the stock Jeeps are usually the ones who don't wave. Many of them don't get the "Jeep thing" and think of it like a car. People who modify their Jeeps seem to get "The Jeep thing" and wave back.

Here in the Pocono Mountains, Jeeps reign supreme. Everyone waves to each other. Some of the new soccer moms and baseball dads need re-calibrating but that's our job to help them out.
Don't be discouraged...eventually the newer drivers get the message.
For entertainment value: I wave to the FJ guys to get in their heads. Talk about some strange looks.

I kinda feel lame being the first to wave... in my stock Jeep. I can't help it... especially when I got some 35" tires rollin on me with bold letters across the hood reading "RUBICON".
Also, I am a biker... Everyone waves at me and I have to stop and think about what is going on... still. (I'm not the brightest start in the sky)

Yeah I Had No Idea Of The Wrangler Salute Till I Got One Two Years Ago. I Was Cruising Down The Road On My Way To The Shore And I Saw A Fellow Wrangler Wave So My Instinct Was To Return It And It Has Become A Natural Reaction To Any Wrangler. Its Gotten To The Point Where I Salute Even When I'm Driving My Jetta TDI.
It Does Bother Me A Bit That People Who Buy Brand New Wranglers Haven't The Slightest Idea What Is Going On When I Wave.
On My Way To The Trails A Few Months Ago I Was Stuck In Traffic With no Top Or Doors Being Gawked At From All Sides By Non-Jeeps For Fifteen Minutes Or So. SoI Shut The Jeep Off And Stand On The Roll Bar To See What The Hold Up Was... It Was A CJ Dead In The Middle Of The Road. So I Threw Her Into 4 And Took Off Down The Sandy Road Side Passing All Kinds Of Trucks And A Jeep To Get To The Front And Tow The Crippled CJ Off The Road. To Sum Up The Long Story I Did That For A Wrangler And I Would Hope Someone Would Do That For Me And I Know I Can't Count On The New Jeep People.

Man I am SO glad somebody started this! I'm always complaining to my girlfriend about people buying jeeps just cause to buy one. I wave at every jeep i see and just like you guys I get less than half back.
About a month ago I was driving down the highway and on the other side I saw a yj and a ty stopped on the side of the road. So i hit the brakes and cut through the median to see what was up. (nobody was around otherwise I would have went down to the next turnaround) It was cool because the yj had over heated and the tj stopped to see what was up just like me. It was nice to see some Brother/sister hood still alive.
Keep waving everybody will catch on!

I am a new Jeep owner. Don't think it has anything to do with the owner being new or not... it's the mentallity of that owner. I would have done the same thing... even if I had my girlfriend screaming (she does everytime I do something spontainious in the Jeep) I would pull up next to you, or any other Jeep that has problems.
But I do see where you might be talking about some of these guys that are not into the Jeep thing... they are also more likely to lower a Jeep than raise it. I don't think there are all that many people out there like that.

One guy in his JK pulled up to me as I was stopped at a light in mine and I hadn't noticed so he used his PA system to comment on my "nice jeep". My girl and I were a little startled at first but I turned in his direction waved returned the comment. I thought that was pretty cool |

In the interest of keeping the forum organized, I've merged the two newest jeep wave threads and merged the TEN old jeep wave threads.... Jeep Wave Franken-Thread
The old thread is locked, but all the posts are there. This here thread is now the official thread for discussing the jeep wave. It's sticky and easy to find. Have at it.

Waving is important to some, not so important to others. Either way, the discussion in one place makes it a whole lot easier to find the info.

I figured this is the place to post this question. Im just curious to see if this is just me, but how many people will park next to another jeep even if it means walking further to your destination?

The thought of not parking next to a fellow Jeepr is simply uncivilized.
