This is the "official" wave thread so not sure what you were expecting to find? Any others get closed and directed here.

I picked up my new JKUR last night, and got my first wave today on my way home from work. It was another JKU. I waved back, and will continue to do so. This area in central NJ is littered with Jeeps. We'll soon see how many people wave back.

I was on the highway today when I noticed a brand new JKU come up behind me. I was going the speed limit, and was totally on point while maintaining that speed. So this cat goes to pass me. I wave as he passes. (oblivious to the jeep wave of course.) He merges back into the lane FAR too early, cutting me off and flinging huge chunks of gravel into the front of my jeep. Chipping the paint and the windshield. Broke hard to avoid more rocks. Needless to say I gave my angry fingers a good flexin' out the window, and rode his hide at 85 MPH all the way into town. Even though he wronged me, I have some karma to make up...

I live in NJ for the winter and Eastern NC for the summer. 2012 JK, from what I gather: In southern NJ other JK drivers will wave, TJ drivers are way more reluctant, guess they feel any jeep made after 2006 doesn't deserve it (They must not like young jeeps). Here in NC though, no one waves, I've only gotten one JK out of the 30 attempts.

I get that impression too, but I'm happy to wave to all Wranglers.
Let the other guy be the douche.

I know I know...but I am putting this out there for 2 reasons:

1.) To encourage JK owners new to JEEPIN'
2.) To inform/ remind PRE-JK owners not all JK owners are clueless.

I have my "old" standard TJ, nothing extreme and about the biggest true "performance MOD" is the OME lift. I get about a 99% return from TJs and earlier and about 70% from JKs when driving RED. (the TJ)

When we are in the JK which is bone stock (and will be for quite a while) suddenly the return from pre-JK years is about 30% WTH??

Honestly the JK is probably a better performance rig than my TJ but it doesn't seem to get the respect? I don't get it, but I we will keep waving.

Did get a good one the other day, YJ looked like about 4" of lift on 35's going past, could hear the tires before he was even close and was looking "up into" his windshield, dropped arm out driver's side door, his fingers come up off the wheel, he is followed closely by a bright RED JKU (that I almost missed lookin' at the YJ)--sittin' up high rock crawler bumpers, woman driver--smilin' wavin' before I even saw her.

So it was a "two-fer", wonder if the JK was the YJ's SO?

Days like that make me smile....

I get about 95% waves from other Jeepers when I'm in NC, but it could be because we're going from Kill Devil Hills to Hatteras. Along the coast like that is a "see you on the beach" happy kind of wave.

I have a JKU and I pretty much get a wave/wave to every Jeep I pass (new, old, stock or mod'ed). New Yorkers usually get a bad rep for being a-holes but the Jeep community is pretty friendly here in upstate!

I find that people don't wave at CJ-YJ-TJ/LJ or JK's unless they are modified in some way. It's like it's not a real Jeep unless it has big tires, a lift or winch. Then they wave, at least in my area.

I have a JK X with a 2.5" lift and modified rims and tires. My area has a high concentration of wranglers and I hardly ever get waves. I wave to every one I pass and get a couple reciprocated now and then, but I feel most aren't on board. They seem to just have it to have it and not know or care about the wrangler family. When I first got it I got a couple. That's the only way I knew about the wave. I didn't know there was this whole movement if you will. But I have to say that's my favorite part about owning a wrangler. I didnt know any wrangler drivers prior to buying mine. I have also only ever gotten two waves from the JKU's.

I'll always wave though!
<3 you wrangler drivers!!

Just got my very first Jeep and loving it. Read some of this thread and I have to say it made me a little sad! Here I was thinking that the Jeep community is humble and fun..then you read posts saying "I don't wave to this, I don't wave to that"..talk about having an elitist attitude! Even saw something that said people only buy Unlimiteds because they can't afford a Hummer? How about we just wanted to buy a bad ass Jeep!..Sheesh! Where's the love y'all?!

Forget being a Jeep thing at all, if someone waves at me, I wave back, its just the right thing to do if you happen to be a friendly person.

Generally, folks around here do wave but just yesterday I see this nice looking (modded) TJ up ahead and after a few traffic lights, it turns out that I wound up next to him. Obviously we are only a few feet apart and he looks at me as I am looking at his TJ so I give him an appreciative nod AND a wave (bonus, eh?). That DB literally just turns away and waits for the light to change with this look on his face like he's some kinda tough guy. Wow, really brah? The only things that made me feel better about it were a) I'm not him and b) his nice looking TJ sounded like it was about to fall apart as he pulled away while my (apparently too weak for a wave) JK was purring like a kitten and rock solid (I also had more mud on mine than his...must have missed cleaning some after last weekend's wheeling). I'll be sure to give him another Jeep wave when I see him broken down on the trail (inevitable based on the sound of his rig) and then I'll just keep on wheelin. Karma brother!
