I half expected it with the jeep owners, especially after reading some of the "Wave" post.

I have made an effort to wave at all wrangelrs on the road, and NONE have taken a second out of their day to wave back. I figured that it was snooty SoCal drivers, but yesterday I was being followed by a '11 JKU with a 2.5" lift. Otherwise it appeared stock.

As we sat at a red light, a JK with a 2.5" lift came towards us. He looked at me as I waved and then he looked past me and waved at the guy behind me. WTF!
Then I realized that I was bone stock (brand new) and the other guy had a slight change to his jeep. I didn't realize that it made a difference, but I am finding out that you have to do a mod or two to fit in.
Seemed weird but if that is the way it is, I'll keep my hands inside the ride at all times.
Lived in Chicago burbs with a YJ and most people waved

Moved to SoCal got a YJ and people rarely waved

Back in Indiana with a JK and most people who don't wave aren't paying attention

I wave at all Wranglers not Cherokees. Funny watching newbie's when I wave and they dont wave back. They dont have a clue..LOL..I work with a guy who has one of the fancy new Jeeps and he doesnt have a clue about Jeep rules...he hasnt taken his door off yet and he's owned it for 3 years..it's never seen mud or a nasty ditch...no huge snow bank or trail...i drove my Ole 93' Wrangler to work this morning with my kick ass mufflers and no doors and a bunch of young dudes said "Now this is a JEEP"...LOL...love my old gurl

I only wave at Wranglers....but that's how I was raised ...Though I often miss waves when I'm lost in thought while driving. Also, I wave when I'm not in a Jeep to Wranglers...but this is just because I apparently forget what vehicle I'm in

I wave at all Jeep Wranglers stock or amped up...you took the gamble to buy one and hopefully if we make these newbies realize they own a piece of Americana they'll even go beyond those sheitty stock wheels and put some money in that monster..

Something wrong here in MS, so sitting at a stop light a JKU goes by both passengers look at me but do not wave but seem sad when I don't, then I see a lifted TJ doors off and Top, I stick my hand out of my no doors throw up a peace sign and no wave back

Here in San Antonio I wave at all Jeeps, because I was a newb with a stock Jeep and Jeepers were so kind to wave. I think there is a thing going on down here where Jeepers throw the finger at H3's and FJ's. I gotten 5 fingers, so to this day I return the favor every time I see an H3 or FJ "Fake Jeep", and about 70% I get a one right back

I gave up waving at JKU's, no matter how high it's lifted it's always a mom drive her kids to soccer where I live. Now I only "wave" at 2 door wranglers, and it seems only tj's and older wave back

Is it bad to wave from a new 2012 Grand Cherokee? Just got one and I started waving to Wranglers and other Cherokees.

PS: I always wave from my TJ and LJ

Here in Mass/Rhode Island almost everyone waves or gives the peace sign. I do the latter...and I drive a stock Jeep. It's my 5th Jeep. I love them, it's just not in the budget to do anything fun to it (except put stickers on it).

Another visit to PA over the weekend and on the way down I had a guy pass me and lean over to make sure he waved and it TOTALLY made my day. Ran into traffic and there was a ton of jeeps and we were all waving! On the way back yesterday... no waves... I kept waving anyway....

i wave at all wranglers, modified or not, old or new. doesnt matter to me. i think its stupid when people get into the hierarchy and think some jeeps dont deserve a wave. a jeep is a jeep, and theyre all hot if you ask me. i saw a guy that said he doesnt wave to anyone except jk's because he "doesnt want to interrupt them delivering the mail" -prick

On my way to work today (3rd day driving a Jeep) I had 4 out of 5 Jeep drivers wave to me! Just trying to get used to the wave myself after 37 years of no waving!

As long as it's the index & not the middle finger

It's like a cult thing...much like the Branch Davidians without the FBI, Swat Teams and large tanks busting down our doors...I wave everyday..

Finally - the lady in the 2012 4door JK I have been giving the wave to twice a day, every day for the last month and a half got it and threw a wave back. I was still grinning from the red TJ that had just passed and initiated the wave when I saw her coming... I thought here comes the buzz-kill but, someone must have enlightened her.
Most of the 4door drivers in my particular neck of the woods are still clueless about what they are driving but, there is hope. I have seen it.

The Jeep Wave -- Definitive Guide

The Jeep Wave

Wow that's complicated... I'm gonna need an app to keep score.

I didn't understand the requirements when I bought my Jeep this week.

I previously owned a Dodge Challenger and I'd get all sorts of people honking and giving me the thumbs up to which I'd sheepishly wave and rev the engine and light up the tires... but in the past 3 days I've had all these people I didn't know giving me a polite head nod or casual shift of the hand and I thought they were mistaking me for someone else.

Who'da'thunk'it.
