Tonight the hubby & I were driving the Jeep on the north side of SA and a guy in a blue CJ with his 3 little girls pulls up beside me, honks and waves and so did the 3 little girls....all of them smiling the whole time....gave me a warm fuzzy feeling

Listen,on Long Isand there a lot of JK'S bought with AEV packages. If you don't wave your american express black card at them they wont wave back. But the TJ'S out there there is no problem.I dont get it a JEEP is a JEEP.

In 1972 my first car was a red on red 1965 289cu gold block - 245Hp GT fast back Mustang - dad bought the first one in town, at 16 it became mine. For graduation - I ordered a 1974 Z-28 midnight blue metallic. 350cu - 375 Hp. In 1976 - married my high-school sweetheart - 1980- first son-1983 second son. Trucks for camping - station wagons for - well - family activities - fast forward - April 2012 bought my 2011 Wrangler - by far my coolest yet. Really enjoy the wave, and being part of the Jeep family!!

Oddly enough, now that my Jeep is lifted and has AEV bumpers I find that less and less Jeep owners wave back when I wave at them. I guess they stereotype goes both ways. I wave at all Jeep owners. The ones that don't wave back end up getting the middle finger.

Only those who drive wranglers or cjs know about the wave. Pretty sure it's exclusive. And I like that last sentence. I usually just call them assholes.

I usually wave unless the kids are distracting me in the back. Notice a lot of lifted jeeps don't wave back. If only they knew about all the stuff sitting in my shed waiting to be installed next month. I'm taking note of em though. No more wave from me

Let it be known that here in the Eifel of Germany (Spangdahlem Air Base, Bitburg, Trier area) is unofficially (because I said so) the home of the most overseas Jeeps, and we all wave when we see each other. In fact, I am at a point where if a Jeeper doesn't return my wave, I will abuse my rank privledges, pull them over, and mentor them on proper Jeep etiquette.

People in Chicago sometimes really suck about it. Maybe it's because I'm sitting on stock tires/suspension, but it's less than a month old. Some Jeepers don't even look at me. Regardless, I wave

I find non-wavers amusing- and irritating. Especially if someone refuses to wave because a Jeep isn't modd-ed or lifted. First off and foremost- a Jeep is a no-frills 4 X4 tank that doubles as an open air tank. From this standpoint- I find it ironic that modders who spend THOUSANDS of $$$ refuse to wave at a simple, basic Jeep. Jeep snobs- who knew? Watch it- your lift kit is sticking your nose up in air. If you love Jeeps so much- how come you have to replace everything? One could argue that the purists leave the Jeep as-is. The guy driving on crappy stock wheels and tires with no air-conditioning, no power, no mods..nothing but what it came with should get the double wave. They bought a Jeep when they probably could've bought ANYTHING else and gotten more for their money. Now as for blinged-out Sahara's that never take off the hard-top or much less take it off-road- I question your sanity (why buy a Jeep?) but I will still wave.
It's a Jeep thing, pure and simple.

Jeep Wave (again)

In all seriousness...kidding this is funny. A couple of months after I bought my first Jeep I finally allowed my then-boyfriend to drive it occasionally. One day he came home with a big grin on his face after an all day drive. " I really like your Jeep". Duh. I asked him why- and he replied "I must look good in it because cute girls kept waving at me". He went on to say that a lot of people waved. I chuckled, and asked him to recall whether or not those girls happened to be in Jeeps. "Yes- as a matter of fact they were!". You should have seen the heart-broken expression on his face as I explained (gently) that the girls were waving because he was in a Jeep- not because he was a stud.

I wave at all jeeps, but I find that those who do not wave back are often in a JK. The more you get into the city, the worse it gets.

Gotta pop in on this one. I wave, used to be just on Harley i waved at all other bikers, now in the Jeep, i wave at all other Jeeps (Wranglers). Of course i live in the city now (BOO) so only about a 1/4 of the people wave back...

It doesnt hurt my feelings if people dont wave....Dont really care, i just wave to acknowledge the common interest that we as strangers share i.e. Jeeps and Bikes........

However, dont wave at 80 year old women driving Jeep Patriots. They almost wreck everyone on the road trying to see if they knew you, and it might cause them to much grief as they struggle to remember with a fading memory how they knew that person that passed them today waving!

Well I found out today why some JK owners don't wave, and said owner nearly found out how it feels to meet a TJ when it broadsides her.

Nothing against JK's, it's some of the owners.

I'm sitting at a light, turn arrows go red, I get the green light. Just as I start to move here comes this black behemoth across from the opposite turn lane. As it turns broadside to me I see kiddies in the back and mom driving.

"mom" is holding a soda cup and steering wheel in one hand, head tilted over holding phone to her shoulder, and is handing something to the back seat passengers as she blows through the light.

Not even looking at the road, so I guess she wouldn't have seen me wave.

Just throwing this out there. I get more waves from JKs than I do anything else. Yjs are about just as good. I get waves from stock tjs every once and a while.... But never from a lifted one. Usually it is a sparkling clean skyscraper with Chrome wheels and some ditzy chick driving. And cj drivers just seem like snobby old republicans. Haha. So keep it up jks!

Hey, I throw my two fingers out to every Jeep I see. Much of the time it's a discouraging let down.

I tend to wave at the ones who either A. Look like they know what a Jeep wave is. B. Wave first. C. Have an older model. Most newer Jeeps (no offense) aren't aware of it.

I think its a "like" or "love" thing too. I notice all Jeeps... parked, on the road, etc etc.... but I LOVE my Jeep and actually ALL Jeeps. I think there are some people out there and it does tend to be the JKU drivers that just don't have "The Love". It's okay, it's an expensive obsession anyway.

You'd be surprised, I actually get more old guys in CJ's and YJ's waving at me than I do from other TJ's and JK's. I think it's because they see me carrying on the Jeeping tradition or something, or perhaps it's because they see a younger version of themselves! Either way, the old dudes rule.

Regarding non-waving JKers and non-wavers in general-the problem may just be that they honestly don't know anything about it and people are less and less friendly anymore. Why old dudes rule and wave. Let's face it- as generations go by Americans get ruder and ruder. It tends to be younger people driving JKs- and they probably don't think too much about NOT returning a friendly "hello" or a wave from anyone-let alone another Jeeper. They might text you - but they won't wave. And I happen to be a JKer in my 30s (ish) and a WOMAN and I do wave. And I drive a 2 door. Contrary to the somewhat common thread here that women commonly drive Saharas U's, are soccer moms and don't wave.
