Anyone think most people only wave to their own model?

Today I waved at a Jeep and was turned down... The Jeep had a "wranglerforum.com" sticker on it. Needless to say I was pretty disappointed.

Had a decent amount of waves yesterday, the best one coming from a lifted CJ that had a lady driver. Wifey asked if she waved, I said "Yeah! She initiated it!"

Kinda funny, this whole thread could have been lifted from one of the motorcycle forums. Me, I wave to darn near every one, motorcycles, motorscooters and now Jeeps. Whether they return it or not doesn't matter to me, it still makes me feel good.

This may be shocking to other states: Californians suck. When I lived in Ohio and had a TJ it was waves across the board. I think I've been waved at once in So Cal. Getting kinda sick of waving my arms like a funky chicken with no response. I'll keep doing it though- just to spite them.

I'm frequently turned down by JK's for some reason. Don't know why.

Didn't know there was a WAVE thread. This was my post:
What is a "Jeep Thing"? When you see a jeep like a jk that is (clearly not) going to go off road anytime soon, do you wave? or do you and then feel like you were just violated? Here is my take: When the jks first hit the road i decided not to wave unless they do because they were full of people who didn't appreciate the same passion. Nothing against it, drive what floats ur boat put 30in spinners on it and dip the whole thing in chrome, i could care less. Thats just not my "jeep thing" Don't get mad jk people, I have changed my mind some time ago with the jks because people are making disgustingly bad ass ones. However no matter the model, I "wave" to show solidarity in owning a capable 4x4. I wave because i appreciate the blood, sweat, tears and countless hrs that go into crafting a bad a$$ jeep. I wave because most people that drive a jeep love the open air and they see the world as a potential playground for said Jeep...... I don't do the wave to boost your low self esteem. I dont wave because we both have the word "jeep" on our vehicle Should i start waving to everyone with a pe because we both have one? FYI....sigh i still wave because my "dont be a jerk" instincts kick in. I just tell my self "they just got it and are going to mod it" just my thoughts...am i alone?

I have similar thoughts. And whenever I wave at a stock wrangler and they don't wave back, I just think "they must be new to this whole thing, I'm the first to introduce them to the wave!"

Most JK drivers are still noobs, they may eventually figure it out. If not, no skin off my back. I drive a JKU and I wave at all Wranglers and 90% of the time get a return.

Here in Fort Wayne Indiana, id say 98% of the people wave. 1% not seeing you and 1% driving jks. Ive seen every wave there is, mostly a flip of the hand on the wheel.

New to the Jeep waves, since I am new to Jeeps, but a long-time motorcycle waiver.

That said, around here, still some progress to be made.

Oro Valley, near Tucson, AZ: 5 waves out; one back.
East Side: All kinda waves.

Hadn't noticed the JK trend yet, but will keep an eye out.
In the mean time, I'm still waiving.

I try and wave to every wrangler I see. If I miss anyone it's not trying to be rude, my mind was wandering at the time. I get some waves back, but I will continue to wave no matter what. I'm also one of the new jeep peeps, but I wanted a jeep ever since I could drive.

that's exactly the look I get every time I wave to a jeep and they don't wave back, like I offended them by offering a gesture of camaraderie.

Waved to seven Jeep Wranglers today. Out of the seven, only two people who waved back were in JKs.

...So much for all the talk about JK owners not waving back.

What's with JK owners not waving??? I just bought a JK 12 years after I sold my TJ. I loved the wave. I plan to continue to wave just as I did 12 years ago!

Didn't have a problem getting waves from other JK owners today, it was everyone else. Considering I went two for seven, I may just not wave at all in the future...

i just got my JKU this week and i've already given and received a good dozen waves! So far it's equal across all years. gotta love oregon.

i need a second pair of eyes to catch all these waves. I'll end up rear ending someone at some point looking out for them.

I like to think of the jeep wave as a solute between jeeps, the more classic the style model of jeep the higher the rank.

i.e.: if you pass a ZJ in your TJ you don't HAVE to wave unless he initiates the wave. other TJ's or older wranglers are always waved at, newer ones are also optional and if you pass a CJ or better you must wave!

Also NEVER wave at a hummer even if you know the driver personally
