Ok, I will admit it. I am modding today. I'm installing a Uniden CB radio. My bad. I may be a douche or have a Napoleon complex after all!

I bet there are a lot of Jeep drivers out there that mod their Jeeps because they think it looks cool not because they go off road.

I think the "I only wave at modded Jeeps" is a bunch of crap and only makes you sound like a douche with superiority complex or someone with a Napoleon complex.

I don't think it's an off-road thing either because you hardly find other off-road vehicle drivers waving at each other. They spend more time sizing each other up instead of building a community or camaraderie amongst each other.

I may be a new Wrangler owner but I know stupid when I see it.
They're just posers. Just to be prepared... Facepalm. Those guys just want to look BA but are pussies and afraid to break something. Prepared for what?? If they've never wheeled it, they won't be able to drive it anyway.

Nothing wrong with they're MO, it just makes me laugh. And for the guys who only wave at modded Jeeps.. I couldn't agree with you more. I wave at stock Jeeps all day.

And a CB isn't a modification, it's an accessory. Modifying a Jeep is swapping a rear end or installing an SYE.

Had that happen to me Friday night. Some douche in a TJ (imagine that...) is all about waving to a TJ about 7 cars ahead of me at a light, then spots me and I wave and get some half-assed "throw" of his head back; it must have been the 4 doors.

I don't think the snobs realize that people with stock jeeps are also enthusiasts too. Mine is so far from stock but whenever I see a Jeep at a gas station, I invite them to come to a club meeting. And I wave at everyone!!

It's not about the d-ring shackles or a winch, which I'm putting on soon. Nor is it about the fact that this Jeep can climb a 4' ledge or that one which can drive in water that covers the hood..

It's about driving a Jeep, loving it, and sharing that feeling with another Jeeper by giving a damn wave.. After all, we're not strangers anymore. How the hell can that make someone feel awkward?

I don't mean to sound elitist, but I'm really not worried about mods; I already know my vehicle will out-perform just about anything stock or even lightly modified on the planet.

There are plenty of people out there who don't modify their vehicles for a variety of reasons, and I'm sure a lot has to do with not wanting to hack up a vehicle they just dropped $35,000 on two weeks ago. Some people (myself included...) would love to mod the shit out of their Jeep, yet it's just not a feasible option, as some of us need reliable, daily transportation.

I can't wait to take my first off-road trip, but as far as rock crawling and pushing the boundaries, I'm not game. For one, I don't have the money to be destroying things, and for two, I have NO experience with off-roading; absolutely NONE.

As for the whole, "I'm not waving to you because you own a stock Jeep," people who have that mentality can blow a goat, because I wouldn't want them waving to me in the first place.

A Very Close Encounter

Wife and I were heading to the bank yesterday when we came to stop light, across the road we watched two JK's Wrang pulling out from behind the fire station.. (assuming these two where firemen just getting off work) the light changed green and we waited till they passed.

The first Wrangler was a JKU lifted, bigger tires, winch, cut fenders, etc.. The second was a stock two door JK no frills. We waved at the first Jeep in passing.. I got a good look at the first JK guy's face.. there was no way he was going to lift a finger and wave at us.. sort of one of those (my Jeep is better then yours) attitudes, yet the second jeep?.. he was hanging out the side waving as if we didn't notice him. As he passed I yelled back "That's Right you better wave".. I guess I'm just taking this to personally.

Clearly there are devisions between our Jeep family.. and I knew this all along.. JKU's just don't get along with JK's and Extreme Mods don't get along with no mods.. One thing that really bothered me on this one.. is the fact that both of these guys are firefighters.. and if they treat other jeep owners this way.. what's to say how they treat us if there is a real emergency or fire.. I personally waved because these guys deserve a wave and not because they drive jeeps.. but they fight fires and save lives.

In North Texas, most Jeeps wave to each other. Hell, I had a GC wave to me today... And I waved back! Why? Because I'm not a dick. If you're a dick, go buy a Hummer. Dicks drive big 'ol H2s, and they wave to nobody. These modded Jeeps that refuse to wave to stockers are killing the wave... There are way more stock Jeeps out there than modded ones. Maybe they need to be educated... Fine. Wave to them and show them how it's done. What I'm seeing our legacy becoming in the generation who killed the Jeep wave after 75 years, because. "you aren't just like me.". How is that not discrimination???

Waved "back at you"... Because you waved to her first. You didn't discriminate because she had 2 more doors than you, or because she had 2 more cylinders than you, or because she had a/c, or etc... You waved because she drove a Jeep. Good job! If everyone did that, these stupid threads on waves would die...

Not gonna say no JK owners are to blame here but this whole "heirarchy" attitude started somewhere, and wasn't with us.

X2. I was busy changing lanes earlier and missed a wave from a TJ. I saw him wave as I passed by. I threw a wave back but it was probably too late...

Honestly, I think people get too upset over something that is essentially nonsense. My man doesn't wave at every Jeep Wrangler he passes. It's not because he is in a JK or he feels slighted or any other reason. Usually, it's because he didn't notice them.

So, that means there are people driving around thinking he's a poser or a snob because he didn't see the other Jeep on the road.

Is it nice to be waved to? Sure. Should it matter if they respond if you wave? NO. There's probably a high chance they aren't purposely slighting you.

I know the arguement "but, it's a Jeep FAMILY." Guess what. I hate a lot of people in my family. And so do you with yours, I would wager. If a YJ driver wants to hate JK drivers, he can. Why should it really matter to you or your feelings if he does? Chances are you're not going to hang out with him.

Just wave, and move on. If they wave back, great. If they don't, great. It's not like you're really going out of your way to lift a few fingers off the steering wheel, or raise your hand that was resting on the door. Just relax and enjoy the ride and stop worrying about the person in the next vehicle.

This is true, I don't see all of them either, in this city its almost impossible to see ever single vehicle on the road.

X2. I'm not "scanning" the road for every Jeep driving down the highway, I'm paying attention to driving; mainly the abundance of dumbasses who either can't hold a speed or are weaving all over the road while chatting away on their cellies.

Sorry, my safety is more important than waving to somebody just because they drive a vehicle just like mine.

About the Wave....My daughter is Stationed IN Germany with a Combat Medic unit....she was home in April still enjoyed the wave/ waves to her uniform/ and the Jeep....but made the comment that after being Europe...she can't believe how many bad drivers there are on the road here in the States. Guess it is all just perspective...

As far as I am concerned your daughter, (when she was here) should have only got a wave because she was in a Jeep, she shoudl have received a hand salute for being in uniform.
Tell her next time you talk to her an old Navy Ad says thank you

Been waving my arm off on this trip and haven't had much in return. However, I will be going north though Dallas tomorrow on the way home and I expect I won't be doing much waving through that town as those folks are crazy scary drivers and it takes everything I've got to keep on the road as they try to take up the same space in the lane I'm traveling in though town. The only town I've found worse than Dallas is Atlanta. Even Boston had better drivers, they just gave you the finger as they flew past you in the OTHER lane, not trying to take over your lane.

Still

Spent last weekend with the top down and doors off on Cape Cod with a bunch of friends for Memorial Day. Waved at every wrangler I passed and got waves back from a good number of them. Everybody in the car was cheering every time I got a wave back by the end of the trip
