Traded my '01 TJ for a new JK (Gecko Sport) last week. I wave at every Wrangler, regardless of model or mod, and most around here (beaches in southern Delaware) also wave.

Well, I waved to no fewer than 10 of them today and only got waves back from about 3. I did, however, get a few nods from GC owners.

I grew up in Delaware. I don't live there anymore and it's been nearly 8 years since I've been to a Delaware beach. I'm missing the boardwalks in Rehoboth and Ocean City, Maryland. I think my wife and I are due for a trip this summer!

It's only supposed to be for CJs and Wranglers.

I haven't seen them for a decade. At least any more than any more than you'd expect any enthusiast to wave and it doesn't seem like a jeep-specific thing.

Sadly the only jeep I've seen lately to wave to is my own when we back put of the garage....

I'd wave. Yesterday, I got three waves. All occurred when both they and I were in the right lanes throwing them completely across the passing lanes and median. I love those kind of waves, especially when others see it.

A. Broke my front axle.
B. Took the missus and I camping to Bryce in the convertible to see the eclipse.
C. Waved at every Jeep and beat my head on the steering wheel missing my poor jeep in the shop.

That's ok, you're allowed. I regularly pat Dewey on the butt when we get home safely.

The ebb and flow of Jeep waves... Getting a lot of TJs not waving lately. Forget about Jeep waves down towards town (Atlanta).

I see several jeeps on a daily basis drive back and forth from Baton Rouge, I'd say I get waves from about 75%.

Does anyone ever do the jeep wave while driving another vehicle? I drive rental vehicles and company cars sometimes for work, as well as my gf's Explorer, and I'm always waving at jeeps forgetting I'm not driving mine. Get some strange looks doing that.

I grew up in Denham Springs and Walker. I heard nowadays that the drive from DS to BR is about 3 hours with traffic.

I find in Maine, at least in the middle of it, that a lot of jeep owners wave back when you wave at them. Quite a few will even initiate the wave! I like to wave at everybody, stock, lifted, off-road, etc. because I give the stock owners the benefit of the doubt and just assume they're as broke as I am and can't afford a lot for the jeep yet

Hate to say it, but the only Jeeps I don't get waves from are TJs. Not sure why. Because I'm in a JK? Not saying that no TJs wave... Just saying that's who I get the least back from. Maybe the TJs felt slighted by the YJs when they were new...? Why? Because the YJs weren't real Jeeps to the CJs? Oh well, I'll keep waving... They're all Jeeps. I'll even return a wave to a Liberty, Compass, etc...

That's pretty accurate from my experience, I drove on I-12 coming back from work the other day, and good god. Thankfully I don't have to deal with that very often, I commute from Watson to the Capitol area. About 30-45 minutes if you hit the road at the right time.

I chased down a guy in a CJ that had tires bigger than my TJ. I honked at him. He looked down to see a blonde gal who just wanted to throw him a Jeep wave. Wow, what a big smile and wave I got back.

Well, if any of you in Arkansas, Louisanna, Texas or Oklaholma see a blue TJ jeep with Missouri plates (see avatar) loaded with 3 kids and their momma hanging out the side waving, wave back at me We are headed out tomorrow on vacation through the 30th to see some more of this great country. Normally we go south east to the Georgia coast for vacation but are going to the Gulf coast this year. Sounds like the heat is going to be great for almost topless travel (leaving sunrunner top on for comfort) but gonna open up the rest! Girls were whining about hair and wanted the air on, I told them to deal with it, LOL! Son was ready to help me pull the top off from the word go. Should be an interesting trip, two teenage girls and an almost teenage son. By the time we hit Arkansas, I will need the validation of some stranger waving cheerfully to me

Happy Trails

I'm a new Jeep Owner. I have a stock Jeep with Wrangler STs. I will upgrade the tires soon and maybe put rails on it but other than that I don't have any plans to do anything else to it. There are a lot of modded Jeeps in my neighborhood. Everything from extra fuel tanks, winches, rails, racks, additional accessories (jacks, shovels, etc). They look bad ass and always seem to be extremely clean. I've asked them where they go to off road and they usually give me a sheepish look and say they don't do much but like to be prepared.

I bet there are a lot of Jeep drivers out there that mod their Jeeps because they think it looks cool not because they go off road.

I think the "I only wave at modded Jeeps" is a bunch of crap and only makes you sound like a douche with superiority complex or someone with a Napoleon complex.

I don't think it's an off-road thing either because you hardly find other off-road vehicle drivers waving at each other. They spend more time sizing each other up instead of building a community or camaraderie amongst each other.

I may be a new Wrangler owner but I know stupid when I see it.

Agreed. I've got some mods ( 33s and other minor stuff), but there are a lot more stock Jeeps than nodded ones. Those that refuse to wave to all Jeeps are killing the wave. Period.

Ok, I will admit it. I am modding today. I'm installing a Uniden CB radio. My bad. I may be a douche or have a Napoleon complex after all!

They're just posers. Just to be prepared... Facepalm. Those guys just want to look BA but are pussies and afraid to break something. Prepared for what?? If they've never wheeled it, they won't be able to drive it anyway.

Nothing wrong with they're MO, it just makes me laugh. And for the guys who only wave at modded Jeeps.. I couldn't agree with you more. I wave at stock Jeeps all day.

And a CB isn't a modification, it's an accessory. Modifying a Jeep is swapping a rear end or installing an SYE.
