I drove an 01 tj before the kids and remember 95%ish of people waving. Just bought an 08jku and now, three years later I only get about 10% people waving back. I know I'm surrounded by massholes, but c'mon man. How hard is it? 2 fingers?

'01 TJ was my last Jeep too. I think some of the old schoolers are trying to boycott the JK's, but I remember distinctly when the TJ first came out that everyone was doing the same thing with them. At least they went back to a round headlight then...

But seriously, although I loved my old TJ and admit I do miss that 4.0L, the 4 door option having kids makes the experience much more enjoyable. Especially since we have decided to be a 2 Jeep family. Doesn't matter which one we take, everything will fit in the back, I can go grocery shopping with the kids and still fit it all, and all without sacrificing the fun factor.

I loved my TJ, but these JKU's are much better suited for our needs now.

I don't own a Wrangler (yet!) but dealer let us take one home for the weekend to test drive and the waving might just be my favorite part.

It was a nice day so the wife and I took a walk in a pretty heavily populated area. We saw plenty of Jeeps and I had plenty of opportunities to look at them up close, including their interiors, exterior details and dimensions, etc. all I can say is that I'm glad I bought a JK over anything previous.

Ha ha, I love the wave thing! It just further endears me to the Wrangler! I took my test drive and felt like a newb because the dealer had to remind me to wave.

Where you are, they do. You have to specify on such a broad comment.

They apparently do where I'm not as well. We were 170 miles away from home in Delaware visiting my parents.

I always realize it's a woman on her phone or a guy who just bought his JK to be cool. Most people here wave from older Jeeps. But the JKs are starting to catch onto the wave here.

Where do your parent live? This might be relative to my next reply.

My parents live outside Newark, DE. I had I dunno how many previous generations just drive by without even acknowledging me, yet at least got glances from the JKs. I'll stick to waving at the JKs but the rest can wave to me first.

Girls don't wave

First this Thread is long so I am not sure if it was discussed do girls wave? Because they do not in Northern NJ.

In my experience it's a hit or miss with both guys and gals in JK's and TJ's.

I've had a handful of girls wave though. Most notable was an older lady in a JKU I saw on my way home from work. I waved at her for a week straight and got no response until that following Monday... definitely made me smile and made my Monday afternoon when she did.

Personal opinion Expressing my 2nd Amendment

Have found in my new JKU that mostly JK and JKU guys wave back. The older jeeps hit or miss. I live in Bergen county so people buy vehicals for show than for utility. Maybe this is why older Jeeps/jeepers do not but that is hard to tell. I don't see the mod vs un-mod issue, in my area.

I see all Jeep Wranglers and older models as the same. A Grandson has the same genes as his Grandfather but he is not his Grandfather. Same family and lineage though.

My experiance regarding women Jeepers: I had a stock JKU next to my stock JKU the woman looked at me and I gave a wave, she did not wave and look the other way. She must have been 30 something, nice good looking blonde.

Another Girl maybe in her 20s saw me wave and then looked down to what I think was her phone. She was in a very rusty TJ. I am not judging the jeep it's nice see a well used jeep on the road.

My thoughts, there are certain vehicals women have no business driving. Personaly they should drive a Jeep Liberty and leave the Wranglers for guys. Hold up give me a second to put my skid plates on.

The Gals in WV must be very nice. It must be my area. This morning 5 jeeps on my way to work 1 woman 4 guys no one waved.

I think I am going to stop waving and wait for the wave.

Just a Joke regarding the women and Jeeps.

I never get on pedestals I go to the top of the mountain. Dame spellcheck it did it again. That is what happens when you outsource your job. Its never as detailed as you.

If everyone did that, the wave would most certainly die. Don't whine.... wave often and wave first! Modded, stock, 2 door, 4 door, old, or new... wave at Jeeps!

To who??? H2 and H3 drivers???? My experience has been JK owners would drown if they finally took the top off their Jeep and it rained their noses are pointed so far up.

I still wave to them becuase I like the confused look on their faces.

**EDIT*** case in point this past Sunday I rolled up at the beach next to a white JK 4 door, young kid in his 20's was parked there. Got out said Hi. He looked at me like I had horns coming out of my forehead, no reply. 5 minutes later he got in his jeep and moved bout 25' away. Was good he moved...I would have hated for my buddy in his stock 06 JK to have had to block him in.....

Only if they're CJs or Wranglers.

I have no problems getting waves from JK owners. Maybe if all the previous generation owners would pull their heads out of their asses and dump the elitist attitudes, you'd get waves. And what's so great about a TJ, because I ain't seeing it.

Not an elitist attitude just seems the "new generation" is for lack of a better wording lacking in traditional respect or manners, and not so much as in for the person driving as for the brand.

Anyway not really that big of a deal. I wave they don't, not going to kill me or make me cry.

Let's say only 50% of Jeeps wave... where I am, there are a TON more JKs than the older models. Mathematically, it makes sense that more JKs don't wave back. I saw 20 JKs, and 10 didn't wave. I saw 2 TJs, 1 didn't wave back. It's the same percentage. The fact is this... help educate those that don't know. It's stupid to say it's an elitist attitude. They just don't know. And if they don't know on the road, you can bet they're not reading forums like this to learn. So... what can you do to help educate them? Wave.

Maybe Jeep needs to make a Wave commercial but I am sure the Lawyers would not approve. I wave at all Jeeps (CJ, YJ, TJ and JK and JKU)
