Get in the game or drive a Volvo, right?
I have to say that the original VW Beetle had owners waving.

How about the days where people waved just because it was the neighborly thing to do and they didn't need the vehicle they drove to determine who they waved at.

I totally do that. I dont wave at stockers anymore. Not because I am judging them, just if you live in a metro area, especially one with a huge college population, youre just going to have alot of folks who dont get it/do it. soccer moms, college kids, that poor guy I see every day with a plow frame welded on, ect ect. So sue me

Between waving at Wranglers and other motorcyclists who has time to drive? There so are many of both here in Pensacola, Fl.

I've had my stock JK for about a week now, and I am always on the look out for other Jeepers on the road. I wave each and every time, so far about a 30% return rate (mostly ignored from hard toppers...not sure if it's a metro ATL thing..). But it makes my day when I get a wave back. Soon she's going to look great with new tires and wheels, but I'm a lowly poor medical student, so it may be awhile

Question

A newbie question on waving etiquette.

(It may have been discussed here before, but I'm not reading 2,000 posts to find out. So, please bear with me.)

Obviously, it's easy enough to wave at fellow Jeepers in oncoming traffic, but what about Jeeps going the same direction? I have never seen anyone in front, behind, or beside me wave. Is it ever done? How about when passing another Jeep? Seems like that might be misinterpreted.

Opinions?

That's routine out in the country on county or farm market roads.

I do it. If they are behind me and are staying there I peace sign with my right hand. If they pass me I wave as they go by. If I pass I wave as I pass.

No rules, just wave when you feel a wave coming on. Just my opinion.

Across several lanes of traffic around here usually a head nod. closer a wave. i don't wave at 4 doors unless they are topless with door off. i was cruising down main drag thru town earlier, and i see this jk coming up behind me he gets in other lane and comes up beside mei am thinking man its 92 degrees take that shit off. hard top on windows up but as he gets right next to me there is a kid about 6 or so glued to the window smiling from ear to ear waving like crazy. i overlooked the top being on and waved

I find myself wanting to wave at wranglers even when I'm not in mine. Just yesterday while in my work vehicle I saw about 5 wranglers and had to stop myself from waving.

This is what I drive at work:

I live in Brookhaven area and lots of jeepers around there. I wave to everyone and get about a 40-50% return rate. JKUs driven by females typically have lowest return rate in my experience.

Here in Cleveland, OH I've had probably 75% wave back. The other day I waved to several Wrangler with no return - I started to get annoyed but maybe that was an off day. I don't wave to other Jeeps - only Wranglers, CJ's, etc.

In the state of Kentucky (depending if you are not in Lexington or Louisville), or at least in my hometown everyone waves at everyone, but if your are a modified Jeep owner you wave at each other one of two different ways:

1. Top Down: Stick your arm to the side and down and kind of make a K with your middle and pointer finger pointing downward.

2. Top Up: Lift your hand slightly off the wheel and make the same K with your finger but slightly point upward.

You guys are hilarious.

This tangent went waaaaaay left of the thread topic.

But your comment isn't necessarily true for the YJs case. I don't get the death wobble.

Does anyone else in this thread know this joke?? What's fighting on the internet and winning the Special Olympics have in common?

Although I think hunter may have a better point.

I was going to use the more offensive punchline, but forgot that you have to walk on egg shells in this forum. People cuss and use vulgar language all day on Pirate 4x4. Oh yeah, the moderators here don't like trolls very much. One of the threads I posted in cut most of my comments.

Have you seen the spare tire cover that says "If I wanted a hummer, I would have called your mom"?

Lol. And if you disagree on the same topic to different members. You get blacklisted! It's a shame we are loosing the freedom of speech and reasoning to justify comments either neg or poz. I'm a very rational person and have strong opinions and will always clarify and discuss even if jumped on when others don't agree! Keep being yourself and respect others and all is good

I hear you. I just think it's hilarious how offended people get because they feel someone is taking shots at them. Can we just read posts and keep them at face value? Sure, some people are trying to hurt others' feelings, but even when they are it's not as if someone us going to kill themselves.

I believe it's just some people or insecure about their selfs and that's all boils down to. Just like the guy earlier set thought I was talking about all jk owners when I said the JK owners in my area. Some people are just born to argue and that's it. Have no comprehension out how to read and understand what dialog is. Just think I gave up 7 1/2 years of my life and tore my shoulder to shreds defending the honor of feeding of speech for this situations.
